After Cam had left Arya spent some time wiping down the counters and running the dishwasher through long after she was able to calm herself down.
She decided to check out amazon for some different necessities she would need for the baby and, it was hard to pick anything since she wasn't sure as to what she was having but, she did end up ordering two packs of Nuk baby bottles, a baby monitor, a sound machine, a baby bath and, first aid kit. She checked out at a few strollers but figured it would be better if she went in person to find things like a stroller, car seat and, crib.
Just when she was about to take a nap, her phone began to ring. The number on the screen was a number she hadn't seen before and when she picked it up someone on the other end began to talk instantly.
"Hello. This is Abigail from the Cartwright Hospital. I'm calling to remind you of your appointment for an ultrasound on Saturday and make sure you didn't need to adjust the time or date."
The lady sounded pleasant unlike everyone from up North and, like she knew what she was talking about. But Arya didn't remember ever making an appointment so, she assumed that her dad made it and, would go to it anyway before she forgot to make one herself.
That was another thing that she loved so much about her dad. He always knew when she was and wasn't going to do something. He made life way easier when she was going through rough patches in her life growing up.
Arya smiled, remembering all the things her dad had done for her while responding to the lady.
"Hi Abigail! Saturday still works but, can you please remind me of the time."
Arya heard a few clicks before the lady began to speak again.
"9:30 am! Is that still okay for you Mrs. Miller?"
"Oh. It's Ms. And yes, that still works!"
The lady paused for a moment, "My apologies! We will see you then Ms. Miller. Have a great evening!"
Before she could hang up, Abigail got to it first. Arya set a reminder for two hours before the appointment to make sure she would remember. She set her phone on her nightstand and made her way down the steps and into her bedroom where she changed into a red bikini set.
Arya put together her beach bag, slid on a pair of flip flops and went out one of the sliding doors and down the steps to the beach.
The second her feet hit the sand, she felt sane again and when she was over the sand dune, she searched for a spot on the beach to settle in. Once she found one, she laid her towel out along with some sunscreen and, applied it to her skin so she wouldn't burn and would tan instead.
Once she had her sunscreen on, she pulled her book from her bag and began to read 'The Notebook' by Nicholas Sparks. She trailed her fingers over the frail pages, finding her bookmark and stuffed it behind the page she was on. Arya read for a while before someone came humming along near her. She tried to continue reading but, the humming continued for what had to have been more than five minutes. Putting her bookmark in between the two pages that she had stopped at, she stood up and looked in each direction to figure out where the humming could have been coming from.
When she turned to her right, she saw a boy with dark black hair with light blue swim trunks on and a surfboard held between his hand and his side. He had a six pack that would make any girls jaw drop, yet hers wasn't. The boy dropped the surfboard to the ground, lying beside it on the beach as he continued to hum.
Arya tried squinting her eyes to make out what was he was but, couldn't notice anything that would give it away. Instead of continuing to wonder, she cleared her throat and walked up to the boy.
