You mentally prepared yourself for what was about to come, even though there was no denying that you could never be entirely ready. You stepped inside the building and soon met William's gaze, putting a fake smile on your face.
"Good morning, beautiful," he wished loudly, walking toward you.
"Good morning to you too, handsome," you replied, leaning in to kiss him.
"Come on, I'll show you around," he declared, gesturing to the main hallway and grabbing your hand.
The two of you walked through the hallways of L.A.M.B. as he occasionally stopped and showed you some important places you should know. You made sure to keep an eye out for anything suspicious that might lead to Maria.
"Hey, what's over there?" you curiously asked, pointing toward an unusual elevator door.
"Oh, that's just an elevator that goes to the floor below us. It really isn't that important, just some maintenance stuff..." he explained, a much worse actor than you since you could clearly sense that he was lying. You felt a lightbulb flicker on above your head, a new plan storming into your brain.
The moment you saw some bathrooms near the mysterious elevator, you activated your flirty state of mind.
"How come you're not giving me a tour of the bathrooms? I'd really like to get to know how to navigate you..." you flirted, looking at him with doe eyes.
You noticed him get flustered, but he didn't hesitate one moment to drag you into one of the bathroom stalls and start kissing you. You took the opportunity to take him out using your new taser, which was supposedly more efficient than the last one you made. You stole his keycard and sneakily left the bathroom, announcing to the S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters that you possibly discovered Maria's whereabouts.
You hid any doubt you had in you and walked to the elevator. The keycard worked flawlessly, so you entered the chamber that would hopefully lead you to your love and pressed the only button available, labeled Op. Wolf. Funny, considering their organization's name.
The elevator's door opened and you confidently stepped out of it, with an "I know what I'm doing, I work here" kind of vibe radiating off of you. The strategy seemed to have worked since no one that passed you wanted any sort of contact with you.
A shy and clumsy worker appeared in your field of view before you walked in his direction your head held high.
"Where's the prisoner?" you questioned in an intimidating manner.
"Uhm... Why do you ask?" he responded, a brave answer for how scared he actually looked.
"Hah, you have the audacity to question my motives?" you scoffed and ironically remarked.
"No, ma'am, I'm terribly sorry, I just... It's protocol..."
"Ugh you're wasting my time, should I wait for you to decide to tell me or should I find your superior?" you asked, raising your eyebrows.
"That's not necessary, ma'am, the woman is right at the end of the hallway, through those grey doors," he quickly responded, not wanting to annoy you any further.
You controlled your wave of hope and remained in character, heading toward the now clear destination. You couldn't believe that you were about to see Maria. You could get out of this terrible place and be together once and for all. You smiled at the thought of this being the reality you could live in.
