June 21st
I wake up to the chirping of the birds outside my window. Getting off the bed slowly, I look out the window to see whether the eggs have been hatched yet.
Still no luck. Sighing, I take a look at my beautiful son, who is sleeping in his sweet, innocent, curled-up position, just like I used to when I was a kid. He's getting bigger by the day, and I can't believe he's going to turn four in a couple of months.
My husband, Carl enters the room with coffee and says, "Good morning! How was your sleep in our new home?" handing me the coffee mug.
We moved into this house because it's a bigger home than our last one and to stay close to my husband's brother's family. They live right across the
street. "It was quite alright. Better than I expected." I answer my husband.
I hesitate for a quick minute before my husband asks me, "What's with your
confused face? What's on your mind, Jenny?"
I summoned up the courage and finally asked the question. "I think it's time to hire a nanny for Jack. I know you don't like the idea of a stranger with our son, but it will be difficult now that I start my new job in a couple of months. So, what do you say?" I blabber.
Whenever Carl brings up his childhood, he always expresses his bitter memories of his nanny and how she used to treat him and his brother. So I knew this conversation was going to be long.
To my surprise, he replies, "Humphh! Okay! I think there's no harm in interviewing some people and seeing if Jack likes anyone."
I do a small, quiet squeal in my head and just nod at what he says. He must
really be in a good mood today, I think to myself.
