August 22nd
"Mommy, mommy, come look at the Lego tower I made!" Squeals Jack. "Wow, Jack! That's fantastic! I'm so proud of you, baby," I cheered. I go back into the kitchen to work on breakfast.
"Nancy!! You're back already?" called out Jack. I never rushed so quickly towards him. I pick him up immediately and yell, "Carl! Carl, get here now!"
Carl comes rushing, thinking about what has happened, and he sees Nancy. I can see he is quite furious, but he is holding back for my sake.
"I've come to ask for a second chance, Mrs. Hill," cries Nancy. I was appalled at her request. "You've got some nerve, lady. Be grateful that we are not handing you over to the police." States Carl.
"Why did you come back, Nancy? I really don't want you here anymore." I tell her. She begins to sob. "It's not what you think, ma'am. They made me do it. I was threatened by them and had no choice, ma'am. I would never hurt you or little Jack, ma'am." Wailed Nancy.
"You broke our trust, Nancy. I'm sorry, but we don't want you here anymore. Please leave at once." I tell her firmly.
She leaves the house, weeping. I had an odd feeling about this. Why would she be back? Is she telling the truth?
