September  21st

Weeks have passed since the whole shenanigan. Jack finally forgot Nancy and stopped asking about her. We haven't gotten another nanny as of now. We were pretty shaken up by the incident and wanted to do some real background checks the next time we hired a new nanny.

"Daddy! You're back." Jack runs towards Carl. "Hey buddy! What did you do today?" asks Carl.

"We went to Aunty Paula's house, and we took Bruno for a walk in the park, Daddy." Jack is jumping around.

"That's great, bud. How are you doing, honey?" Carl looks at me. "I'm doing okay. It was good to get out for a bit." I exclaim.

We sit down for supper, and suddenly the doorbell rings. "It's probably Kevin. I can hear Bruno outside the door." Carl gets up and goes to open the door.

"You will not believe what happened to the Smiths down the street." Kevin screams. "Kevin, what happened?" I ask, shaking.

"There was a burglary last night in their house, and approximately $3,000 worth of property was stolen, apparently." Claims Kevin.

"My God! That's awful." Carl sighs. "It was their nanny. And guess who it was." Kevin looks at me.

"No!! You can't be serious! Really? It was Nancy?" I sit down for a bit, trying to catch my breath. "You know, it could've been us, Carl. Were they harmed, Kevin?"

"Not really! But they were pretty traumatized, apparently. The gang that showed up with Nancy made some awful threats and trashed the house." Kevin explained.

"I can imagine their situation." I exhale. "We should've informed the authorities, Jenny. Didn't I tell you? We could've prevented this." Carl says it angrily.

"Did you even hear what Kevin said? They threatened them and trashed their house. You don't think they'll hold a grudge and do something unthinkable with us?" I question Carl.

"She's right, Carl. People like them don't get caught easily, and trust me, they can hold a nasty grudge. We don't need that kind of trouble." Kevin defends me.
