Andrew
My heart beats. Near her, when I am near her, close to her.like now. Just the thought of her is making my heart beat.
I inhale the fresh morning air, as I continue walking. It's five in the morning, I woke up early today.
I woke up this early after so long.
It use to be my daily routine. Wake up at five and go for a walk, my daily routine before I left basketball.
I slow down a bit as I reach the place, the grassy old area, the abandoned place.
I used this place to hide, hide from everyone and everything, whenever I use to see or think about this place all that ever came in my mind was hide.
But now, now seeing this place all I can think of is Elise. Only her.Only I know the urge I had yesterday, to kiss her hand.
I continue walking and walking towards the small bridge, the bridge of the lake near the abandoned place.
I keep walking and as I get near the bridge I see something, it's...
It's a person. Standing on top of the bridge, I slowly get nearer and nearer, my vision getting clearer.
It's a girl, and she somehow looks familiar, she's wearing a gray short skirt with a white... looks like a sweatshirt, long sleeves and hair open, I get more near and my eyes kinda gets wide as I see her, Elise. It's her. She's standing there, looking down, just staring, her hands clenched into a fist.
"Elise?" I say, walking closerShe snaps her head towards me, the expression on her face looking like I just caught her doing something, she quickly changes the expression with a tiny smile.
"What are you doing here?" I walk closer.
"Nothing" she gives a tiny smile again and looks around swallowing.
She looks down and slowly moves her feet trying to get down, I give her my hand. She holds it, she holds my hand and slowly gets down the bridge, her soft skin pressed on my hand.
She slips her hand out of mine and starts brushing off her skirt, looking down.
She looks at me, presses her lips together then looks away again, "I- I don't know what I am doing here" she says, swallowing again, looking around, looking away from me, fidgeting her hands.I walk nearer towards her and slowly put my hand on her right arm, "Elise?" she stops fidgeting and looks at me. She swallows again and looks at me, looks away again then she lets out a small laugh which sounds so nervous, "Um I just..." she says, still not meeting my eyes.
"Um I just...." she says again and I look down as I hear tapping sounds, she's tapping her foot.
I quickly put my other hand on her arm, "You don't have to say anything" I say and she looks at me.Oh her eyes, they are so similar, just like the ones I saw that day, that night, the same eyes I saw on myself for months, whenever I looked at my reflection.
She keeps looking at me, then slowly lifts up her hand and takes my hand, the one I had on her left arm, holds it, she holds my hand, tight.
"Are you real?" She asks, so softly, so quiet, still not leaving my eyes.I slowly remove my hand from her other arm then gently hold her wrist, from the hand she was holding mine, then slowly I keep her hand over my beating chest.
"See, feel this? I am real" I say and she gives a tiny smile, nodding.
"What are you doing here?" She says with that tiny smile then lets out a small laugh, rubbing her eyes.
