Everything was seemingly perfect for the innocent and naïve Annalise, as she had the perfect life that any teen could ask for. With her mother, aunt and the almighty by her side, she didn't need anyone, for she trusted them with all her heart.
And...
Anna sat down on the couch and looked at the large wall clock that hung on the wall next to her.
She was getting cold feet. Was this the right thing to do? I mean she has been an introvert all her life and now getting out as the sole heir of the German mafia. Was it all too much? She didn't know.
Her heart raced with every passing second and blood rushed through her head and she felt it grow heavier.
The door was opened and Liam entered. He let himself inside with the help of the spare keys. He had his coat on his arm and he carried a computer. His head hung down and his hair disheveled. He walked in without noticing Lise who was sitting on the couch and as soon as he lift his head up he stopped dead in his tracks.
He sucked a deep breath in looking at the gorgeous woman in front of him. Liam, parted his life slightly, one, in shock and two admiring how beautiful his friend looked.
His heart fluttered and he couldn't help but gawk at her. She was just perfect in every way possible. He liked and closed his mouth when he realized he was staring at her.
Annalise was nervous as she tried to brush off Liam's reaction with an awkward smile. She fiddled with her hands in nervousness.
She wasn't anticipating the reaction Liam gave. She blinked through her lashes and peered at him with some heat raising through her cheeks.
"You...You look..." Liam trailed off batting his lips struggling to find the right words. How could he tell the most beautiful woman he had ever met that he absolutely adores? if it was his choice, he would wake up to her and go to bed with her. She was just everything.
Oh god, the number of times he has thought of falling asleep in her arms. The thought of even touching her, was like... something forbidden. He would die peacefully even if she killed him or betrayed him. She was just perfect. And his love for her was beyond the world.
"Breathtaking."
He sucked a breath and drank her beauty in.
Despite being in so love with her, he never once was physical or said anything that would make her uncomfortable. He was always respectful of her personal space. More so after Andreas ruined her in every way possible.
The first few months it was so difficult because she didn't even let the doctors touch her. She always thought they were going to take advantage of her being crippled. She woke up in the middle the night having the worst nightmares and was only able to sleep after giving her sleeping meds.
And Liam felt like his heart had been ripped out. The girl he loved suffered so much and he couldn't help him earlier. He just kept on blaming himself for it.
Annalise just smiled hesitantly. She didn't know how to react. Something fluttered in her belly and it was new.
"I'll be down in some time. Please wait." Liam said and took a second to pull himself together. He walked up the stairs and Lise sank into her seat breathing out with her cheeks red.
Someone had complimented her. It felt genuine and this wasn't like when they were in school. This was more than that and she had an idea about it. She wasn't completely sure but she had a hunch that Liam wanted to be more than just friends.
Liam quickly showered and ran into his huge walk-in closet with the towel tied loosely around his waist. He picked out a crisp and pressed white shirt and pulled out black trousers. He took out a matching coat. Pulling out the drawers filled with ties, he took out a black tie and slipped into his shoes.
He raced down the stairs while trying to do his cuffs but landed up dropping one. Before he could search for it, Annalise walked closer and took his wrist in her hand, and tried putting on the cuff. She was walking in two and fro motion, trying to balance herself on her heels. When he hurriedly rushed down the stairs and dropped his cuff, it landed by her feet and she picked it up.
Liam looked at her eyes. The green eyes that lay beneath those long brown lashes were focused on putting his cuffs on. Her fragrance stirred something inside him. She was flawless. Her lips slightly parted as she bit on her lower lip.
The proximity made them both nervous. Annalise inhaled deeply and licked her lips before looking up and meeting his eyes.
Their eyes locked and it was as if the world around them paused. But it felt heavy around them. Something that neither of them ever felt before.
Lise licked her lips and Liam's eyes locked that action of hers. He gulped and looked back at her eyes. "We are getting late." She whispered. Neither of them tried to step back as they stood rooted in their position breathing the same air.
Liam nodded at her words and placed his hand on the small of her back as he began walking. Lise was a bit startled but walked beside him.
Very single touch, eye contact, and proximity felt different. For Liam it was love. But for Lise... didn't know. She was sure she had no romantic feelings for him but why did it feel different just now?
The car ride was also quiet. Liam stole glances at Lise making her look down at her lap every time he did so. Her cheeks were as red as a cherry. my god the man was making her blush so much.
As soon as they arrived he stepped out and handed the valet the keys and walked to the other side to open the door for Lise. He held his hand for her as she got out.
She gladly accept his hand and wrapped his fingers around her slender hand. The camera flashed into their faces. She freaked out and stopped back. But Liam was quick to calm her down by pulling her closer and whispering soothing words into her ears.
She felt comfortable. She felt safe. He was by her side the whole time. He didn't let her go even for a second.
He stood beside her like an anchor. To protect her. To keep her safe.
The inside wasn't great either. People stared at her, they whispered about her. Anna grew uncomfortable with each passing second. She didn't like it one bit. In turn, she hurried more into Liam. She was doing amazing for an introvert and a person who had never been in the limelight.
Liam held her close to his rigid body and his arm lay possessively around her waist. He would let her go.
It all happened in the brief moment Liam pulled them away from the crowd. When he excused himself to use the restroom, and he asked her not to move. All in that 5 minutes that he was in the restroom, she bumped into a large man. She turned to apologize only for her entire frame to shake in fear and lose her balance.
The man install held her and steadied her. All in that small time frame.
Her eyes met certain grey ones. His sparkled and hers darkened with fear. Dread crept through her entire being as her lips parted slightly. She started feeling lightheaded and started blacking out.

"A-Andreas?" Annalise whispered and passed out in his arms.
