his mother often wept, dreaming of returning to the surface world, and she died with her last wish to be buried in the earth's soil. when namor ventured onto land with his soldiers as a child, namor came to acknowledge the world above—their colonization monstrous, ruining his mother's birthplace forever.
namor swore since then to protect talokan as long as he lived. anyone who attempted to search for his underwater kingdom would disappear, never to be seen again. his bitterness haunted him for centuries. hatred moved him. his ideas of revenge everlasting.
then, during his disagreement with the most powerful country known to the surface world, namor met mawu munroe, a human-mutant seen as the goddess of the moon and sun. despite his blood thirst and taking her hostage, mawu did not treat him as a lesser individual or curse his name. she spoke to him calmly. she treated the servants and guards as if they were her equals. she went as far to heal anyone who had grown ill or injured with her powers. namor had grown fawn of mawu in a short time, causing a conflict with his interests.
after the battle between wakanda and talokan, the two kingdoms agreed to stop their needless war.
months went by; the wakandan council all came up with a proposal to unite the kingdoms and keep namor from going astray again. a decision mawu held no control over. she is thrown into a plan that disrupted her future forever.
