"Hunter?" I heard Ella call me as she walked in the house.
"Downstairs," I called from my studio.
"Hey," she smiled and walked over to me.
"Hey," I smiled and pulled her into my lap where I was sitting in a chair.
"So," she whispered, looking down at her hands.
"So," I said as I put my hand on her stomach.
"You saw it," she said as she turned around to look at me.
"I did," I smiled at her.
"We're gonna be parents," she whispered, tears lining her eyes.
"Yeah. We are," I smiled.
"Oh my god we're gonna be parents," her face went blank and she looked terrified.
"El, we've got this okay? And you're gonna be the best mommy in the world," I whispered and kissed the top of her forehead.
"As long as I get to be a mommy with you around," she laughed through her tears as I wiped them away with my thumb.
"I'm not going anywhere," I smiled at her.
"I guess it's not missing anymore," she said.
"What's not missing anymore?" I looked at her confused.
Did she lose something?
Oh god.
That girl, always losing stuff.
"The last piece," she said.
"The last piece of what?" I asked, still confused.
"Our puzzle," she smiled.
I smiled at her, realizing what she was saying.
"We're not just the pieces anymore," she whispered.
"We're not?" I chuckled.
"We're a puzzle."
