Kathleen's point of view

I've had enough of Jessica and I need to find out what she's playing!

I decide to wait for her to come back to the common room. I sit on an armchair and read. About an hour later, I hear laughter and footsteps. "Jessica? Can I talk to you for a moment please?"

"Uh yes. See you tomorrow boys!" she answers. Fred gives her a kiss on the cheek as George smiles at me. They both go up to their room. And when I'm sure there's only the two of us left, I say "I'm not going to cut corners. What game are you playing?"

"I don't see what you're talking about" she replies.

"I'm not stupid, I can see you're onto something. Fred has never acted so badly with Mayline. So I'm going to ask you just once; to leave them both alone!" I don't even try to wait for her answer that I'm already starting to go upstairs.

"Thank you Kathleen!" Jessica exclaims.

"Thanks, why?" I ask confused.

"I wasn't sure which of Fred and George interested Mayline. I had my little idea but you just confirmed it to me. Don't worry, I'll leave George to you. But I want to keep Fred" she told with a fake smile and walks out of the common room.

I'm confused and trying to figure out what just happened. But I won't talk to Mayline about it right away, she's already worried enough as it is.

Back to Mayline's point of view

After this new day of class I head for the garden on the side of the greenhouse and decide to relax. I sit on my dress and take out some paper and my quill to write to my parents. I explain to them everything that has happened since the start of the school year. Jessica's arrival, Harry's candidacy, the fact that I proposed myself in his place and the progress of my lessons. I decide not to tell them about the prophecy so as not to worry them.

I then write a separate letter just for my mother. She always had noticed the crush I have on Fred. And I need to talk to her about him walking away from me. We've always been close and it hurts me to see us drift apart like this.

The temperature is dropping and I'm starting to feel cold but I don't want to return right away. The silence does me good. When I feel that someone is placing a piece of clothing on my shoulders.

"You looked cold. Can I join you?"

"Yes of course and thank you" I answer. Adrian then sits next to me.

"Are you ready?" he asks me.

"Ready for?" I ask confused.

"For the First Task"

"Oh no, Harry will do the first and I will do the rest" I reply.

"Ah okay, I hope everything goes well for you" he said thoughtfully.

"I hope so too" I answer with a small smile. I didn't understand why he was so nice to me. Before this year we had never talked this much; but I had to admit that I don't mind. I didn't know what to say so I just enjoyed the silence and the view.

"I really like what you did with your hair this year, it really suits you"

"Thanks Adrian" I replied softly. He had noticed that I had cut my hair this year; and that thought brought a small smile to my face.

"Come on, dinner will start soon" he said to me as he got up. Adrian then offers me his hand and I take it to get up. I give him back the sweater he had put on my shoulders and we go back to the castle.

"See you in Potions class" Adrian said, placing a light kiss on my cheek. I really didn't expect it and I didn't know what to think about it.

I entered the great hall and saw my group of friends except Jessica who was with her friends at the Ravenclaw table. Moving forward I realized that the only place left was the one next to Fred so I took my courage in both hands and went to sit next to him.

"We're sorry Mayline" George and Fred say at the same time. I didn't expect them to tell me that at all.

"You have good reason to be sorry" I replied, rolling my eyes without even taking the time to look at them.

"We don't know what got into us..." begins George.

"We don't think you're a hypocrite" finished Fred.

I turn around and look at them. "You really hurt me, I would never have thought that of you. But I assure you that I hadn't planned anything!"

"Yes we know that May" said George.

"We always knew deep down, so please forgive us!" said Fred.

"I really love you too much to stay mad at you; but that was the first and last time!" I respond with a small smile.

"You can count on us!" say the two boys at the same time, putting their hand on their heart as if they were swearing.

"Mayline!" Hermione exclaimed, coming quickly towards me. She put a newspaper in front of me and said "Look what that horrible woman wrote about you!".

Everyone leaned over and came closer to me to read the article. Harry was of course the first page but an article was devoted to me inside the newspaper.

"Mayline Taylor, a seemingly simple Gryffindor student turns out to be much more complex... A young girl seeking attention due to the total absence of her parents.

Was this application already planned with Harry Potter? I believe so.

We were told that you rarely see Mayline without Cedric Diggory and she assured us that she had feelings for him. Is it a love triangle? Are the two boys aware that she is playing them?

TW
We can only express fears as to the success of the latter. Although a good student, will the physical aspect of the competition fail her?"

I could not believe my eyes.

"She has no right to write such things!" Fred exclaims.

I didn't even know what to say, I felt the tears welling up and did everything to control myself. "I...I'm going back to the common room; I'm not hungry anymore," I said quietly.
