The ride ends and we head off the train. After saying goodbye to Cedric, Kathleen and I join the rest of our friends. We get on a sort of stagecoach that goes without horses.
Kathleen, Angelina and I are seated to one side while Fred, George and Lee are across from us. We then discuss our vacation until we arrive at the castle.
Arrived at the Great Hall, the tables were already filled with food, each more appetizing than the other, and the traditional candles were floating in the air. We then go to our places and keep the arrangement we had in the stagecoach.
Everyone discusses from right to left when thunder strikes. I look up at the ceiling and realize that the sky is very dark and filled with many black clouds.
The sorting ceremony has taken place and we all applaud with all our strenght as soon as a student is placed in Gryffindor.
Dumbledore then made his usual speech and add "I regret to inform you that the Quidditch Coup will not take place this year". Everyone was surprised by this news, the team members all looked at each other with a bewildered look.
"It's because of..." Dumbledore continued when another loud strike of thunder and lightning sounded revealing a man walking towards Dumbledore. He had a very unusual appearance; his face was full of scars and he had a glass eye that kept looking in all directions.
"Do you know who it is?" whispers Lee Jordan.
"Meet your new Defenses Against the Dark Arts teacher, Alastor Moody" said Dumbledore as he shakes hand with the man.
"You have your answer" said Angelina.
"Furthermore, Hogwarts will have the honor of hosting the Triwizard Tournament"
"You're JOKING!" exclaimed Fred.
Everyone then laughed and Dumbledore replied "No, I'm not kidding Mr. Weasley". He continued his explanation of the tournament and added that two more schools of sorcery would be joining us. Hearing the reward, I knew that George and Fred would want to participate, but the prospect of them being seriously injured or even dying terrified me.
While most of the students were cheering, Dumbledore's voice rang out and tidied up. "But only students aged 17 or over will be allowed to submit their name" many students were then outraged by this decision; Fred and George in particular.
"That's rubbish!" screams George.
"Oh come on!" exclaims Fred.
The students start booing and even though I know this money would have been favorable to them, I can't help but be a little happy with this rule.
Dumbledore finally silenced the great hall. "Please welcome Durmstrang School!" A group of boys dressed in brown make their appearance. They exude such an aura that one cannot help but be captivated and I recognize one of them as Victor Krum. They each have a kind of big stick that they hit against the ground making sparks. Applause then rings out.
"Thank you, thank you please now welcome warmly the school of Beauxbatons" A group of girls dressed in blue dresses make their entrance. They do a choreography that captures the attention of everyone but mostly the boys. They walk by and wave like they're blowing kisses and most of the girls roll their eyes seeing the attitude of the male side.
My gaze can't help but land on Fred to see his reaction; and he follows them with his gaze like all the others. I sigh and look away.
When their choreography is finished the girls place themselves in front of the four tables and confusion grips me. A girl stands out, her hair is (adds description). I'm sure I've seen her somewhere before.
The two schools disperse to each table and I'm still watching the brunette while my classmates have resumed their discussion. The latter comes towards us and sits not far from me. My memory tries hard to find where I have already seen her.
When all of a sudden I remember. "Jessica?!" I ask confused and surprised at the same time.
She turns in my direction, narrows her eyes, and opens them wide the second after "Mayline?!"
"What just happened?" George asks.
She comes to sit next to me and I still can't believe my eyes. "What are you doing here?!" she asks me.
"What are YOU doing here?!" I exclaim. We laugh and the next moment hug.
"I never thought I'd see you again!" she told me.
"But wait, you're a witch! We thought you and your family were muggles." I say confused
"We thought the same of you!" she adds with a laugh.
Our moment is cut off by Lee "It's very cute, but we would like to understand!". Angelina then kicks him to shut him up.
"Yes, sorry. Let me introduce you to Jessica Williams, a childhood friend. We had known each other since we were 5 years olds but lost contact when she moved when we were 10" I explain.
Jessica waves and smiles at them. My gaze falls on Fred and I find it hard to understand his reaction. It's as if he was blushing. But I tell myself that I didn't see right.
My friends each introduce themselves, when it's Fred's and George's turn.
"Fred Weasley" he says with a smirk.
"George Weasley" adds his brother with a wink.
Jessica gives them a big smile "Hi boys!" Then turns to me and the discussions resume around the table.
"But you were blonde, weren't you?" I ask confused.
"Uh yes, yes but it's been a while since I changed it" she answers me quickly as if she didn't want to continue talking about it. I do not insist and continue to make up for the lost time while chatting with everyone. From time to time, I see that George and Fred exchange many glances with Jessica but I try to not pay much attention to it.
The evening ends and we go to the common room. Kathleen and I suggested that Jessica stayed in our dorm because we had a free bed. After unpacking our luggage, I put on my pajamas and lie down. The girls do the same.
Everyone goes about their business when Jessica says "You really have handsome boys in your school! Nothing like mine".
We laugh and Kathleen asks her "Do you already have your eyes on someone?".
"Yes, two or three people actually" she replies thoughtfully.I only hope one that it's not Fred.
Meet Jessica Williams!
