My Promise For You | Fred Weasley

Chapter 17:

Next day

Angelina offered to accompany her to Hogsmeade to buy our dresses. Jessica having heard the proposal invited herself. So there was Kathleen, Angelina, Jessica and me. The boys had planned to go too but not with us.

Arrived at Hogsmeade we go to Gladrags Wizardwear. The owner welcomes us and we start to look in the aisles.

"Has anyone invited you girls?" Angelina asked.

"Not yet" I replied.

"Me neither and you?" Kathleen added, addressing Angelina.

"Personally, they shouldn't take long to invite me!" said Jessica.

"Yes, Lee asked me this morning" the young girl said with a small smile.

"That's great! I'll go with Kathleen if nobody invites me" I said laughing and Kathleen nodded.

"You should already prepare for this eventuality then" muttered Jessica.

"Okay girls, let's start trying!"

We each go to a fitting room with the dresses we have chosen.

Angelina chose a purple velvet dress and very close to the body with a small neckline. Apparently they got along with Lee wearing a purple jacket.

Kathleen chose a long red dress with long sleeves and a slit at the thigh.

Jessica chose a long blue dress with a bare back and close to the body.

As for me, I chose a black dress with a bustier and a thigh slit.

I was in my dressing room putting on my shoes when Jessica entered.

"What are you doing here?" I asked confused.

"I just wanted to give you a little advice, you should avoid these types of dresses. They don't really ... flatter you."

"Thank you for your consideration!" I replied with sarcasm.

"It's a chance you're not going with Fred, poor thing you would put him to shame..." I cut her off.

"What's your problem with me Jessica?! What did I do to you." I asked annoyed without worrying that anyone could hear me.

"My problem is you and it's always have been you! You always got all the attention when we were young, my parents always compared me to you because you were supposedly an exemplary child" she replied losing her cool.

"It's really pathetic! Until not even a month ago I had forgotten about your existence and YOU continued to feed your hatred alone" I say, making fun of her. "There's no need to pretend to be my friend anymore" and with that I left and went to join the others.

"What happened?" Kathleen asked.

"Nothing, I just put Jessica in her place a bit. We don't have to wait for her" I say with a smile.

"It was time!" Angelina added.

We went to pay for our dresses and left the store.

Back at the castle we went to put our dresses in our rooms. I saw a paper on my desk and saw that it was from George. "It's today! Come join me, G"

"I'll be right back Kath, I think Hermione still has my potions book" I said as I walked out of the room towards Fred and George's. As I entered I saw that there was only George pacing.

"Here I am!"

"Super May, I need you!"

"So what should I do?" I asked him with a smile.

George then explained his plan to me. Did I think he could have made it simpler? Of course! But it would be not knowing him. The plan was therefore launched.

Back in my room I say "Kath, Cedric wants to talk to us, follow me".

She looked at me oddly but got up. "Do you know what he wants to talk to us about?"

"Not at all, but we'll find out soon!" I answered her.

We arrived in front of a room which was always empty. I arranged for Kathleen to pass in front of me and enter first. I let her go, threw an Instant Darkness Powder ball (the twins' invention) and immediately closed the door.

Kathleen's point of view

When I entered the room, I found it odd not to see Cedric, but by the time I realized that Mayline hadn't entered, she threw a kind of powder that put everything in the dark and closed the door. I really didn't understand what was going on.

"Mayline Lauren Taylor?! What game are you playing?!" I screamed furiously.

I heard a loud noise and jumped "AH!".

The light gradually returns and I see a pile of sunflowers on the ground and George standing in front of me. My heart started beating. "George?" I asked confused.

"Kathleen, I don't know if anyone has ever asked you and if you said yes. I hope not because that would be very awkward now." he began to ramble. "But do you want to accompany me to the ball?" he asked me very stressed.

A smile settled on my face and I decided to do something I had been waiting for a while. I put my hand on his cheek and lowered his head to mine. I pressed my lips to his and it took him a moment to realize what was going on and to kiss me back. After parting ways, we both had big smiles on our faces.

"I take that as a yes!" he said. I couldn't stop laughing.

Kathleen's end point of view

Meanwhile I went back to my room and saw that Jessica's things were gone. I'm glad she was able to find another room! I lay on my bed with the golden egg and tried to decipher the clue, but apart from an unpleasant noise I heard nothing. Maybe I should see with Cedric if he has an idea.

The door opened and Kathleen walked in with a big smile.

"Sooo?" I asked her shaking my eyebrows.

"I hated you for the first 5 minutes! But it was perfect"

"And so you answered...?"

"I said yes of course! And I kissed him" she finished her sentence softly as if she didn't really want me to hear.

"Seriously?! I'm so happy for you Kath and it was about time!"

"Yeah sure! I can't wait to go. Now it's just you." she tells me with a smile.

"We'll see"

"Apparently it should be soon, George told me that Fred took advantage of going to Hogsmeade to buy candies and flowers for his invitation"

"I don't even know if I would have the strength to answer him. I've been waiting for this for so long!" I couldn't believe my ears.
