Chapter 15: "Beyond the Mat"

Sam walks into the library with a headache and he looks at Dean and says, "Hey, have you seen the, um..." Dean tosses Sam a bottle of medicine and Sam catches it and says, "Ah. Yeah. Thanks." Sam clears his throat and Dean says, "Yeah, bottoms up." Sam says, "Yeah." Sam looks at Dean's packed bag and he says, "What's with the bag?" Dean says, "Oh. You remember top notch wrestling?" Sam says, "Yeah. Those, uh, wrestling shows dad took us to when we were kids." Dean says, "Right. Came across an obituary last night. Larry "The Hangman" Lee died." Sam says, "Oh, no. Wasn't he, uh--" Dean cuts Sam off and says, "He was dad's favorite. Every time that noose would come out, dad would be up on his feet." Sam says, "Yeah." Dean says, "That was one of the few times I ever saw him actually happy." Sam says, "Yeah. I remember that." Dean says, "Anway, the, uh, funeral's less than a day's drive. I say we go pay our respects." Sam says, "Uh... don't you think o-our plates are a little full? I mean, it's bad out there, Dean." Dean says, "Yeah, Sam. You think I don't know that? We've done nothing but mainline lore for a week, okay? We've got jack on another hand of God and Amara, and we've got even less jack on how to save Cass." Sam says, "If he wants to be saved." Dean says, "He does... even if he doesn't know it yet." Sam says, "Dean--" Dean cuts Sam off and says, "I'm burnt, man. Okay? And I need-- We, the three of us need to get out of here. Let's go stretch our legs."

Later, Liz, Sam, and Dean are at Larry "The Hangman" Lee's funeral. Dean smiles at some familiar faces and says, "Guys, check it out. It's "The Scream" Casey Lyons." Sam says, "Oh, yeah." Dean says, "There's Wrecking Ball Calhoon. Wow. The Brooklyn Beast?" Liz softly says, "What happened to them? They're all... broken." Dean then says, "Guys. Guys. Gunnar freaking Lawless." Sam chuckles and says, "Hmm. Groupie much?" Dean says, "Shut up. Should I go say hi? I should go say hi. I'm going to go say hi." Dean walks away and Liz shakes her head with a chuckle. Liz walks away and she looks at the Larry's obituary when a woman walks up beside her and when Liz looks her at her, she smiles excitedly and she says, "No way. You're Rio. You used to manage Superbomb Sanchez, right?" Rio smiles and says, "Oh. That was a long time ago." Liz says, "Well, yeah, but you... you look great." Rio smiles and says, "You don't look so bad yourself." Liz slightly blushes and says, "I mean, you were my first crush." Rio smiles and says, "Really?" Liz nods with a smile and says, "Yeah. Anway, are you still managing?" Rio says, "Oh. Nah. I call some matches sometimes, but I'm mostly behind the curtain, you know, booking the shows and taking care of the guys." Liz says, "Yeah. Must be hard to see one go." Rio says, "Yeah, well... we spent a lot of time on the road together. We're like family, and lately, I've seen too many of my boys be put in the dirt. I knew Hangman for 25 years. He was a good man. Great family. I just can't believe he would do this." Liz's confused and says, "Do what?" Rio says, "Kill himself." Liz says, "What? Wait. That wasn't in the obituary." Rio says, "Ah, the family didn't want that advertised, so... speaking of which, if you'll excuse me." Rio walks away. Liz meets up with the boys at Hangman's casket and Dean says, "Poor son of a bitch." Sam says, "Yeah. You know, uh, word is--" Dean cuts Sam off and says, "Yeah. I heard. Hey, you know they're having a memorial show tonight? And Sam, I know you're itching to get back, but, uh--" Sam cuts Dean off and says, "We should go to it." Dean looks at Sam surprised and says, "Really?" Sam says, "Why not? World's still going to be screwed tomorrow, right?" Dean says, "Yeah."
