Sirius' POV:

Ever since Effie and Fleamont passed away, deaths have been haunting all of the Order. Benjy Fenwick even died and he was a class- mate of ours.

I apperate to James and Lily's house. He wanted to talk to me. We sit down on his comfy couch, just like we used to in the Gryffindor Common Room. "What did you want to talk about, Prongs?"

My best friend heaves a heavy sigh and I unintentionally sit up a little straighter. He looks way too severe for his normal acts. Lily comes to sit next to him, so as they are sitting there, opposite me I feel a dread wash over me.

"Prongs?" My voice is barely a whisper and trembles slightly. James however doesn't cut in to calm me, which worries me more.

"Sirius, we spoke to Dumbledore," James' voice is raspy and he doesn't look me in the eyes. "He says there is a spy in our midst. In our group."

"Of course not!" I laugh at the idea. That is the most ridiculous thing I've heard, and I lived with Walburga and Orion Black. "I've never met more loyal people than our friends! They are trustworthy."

"Dumbledore is not stupid," Lily argues, finally looking at me. "He knows our group. He would not say such a thing if he did not highly suspect it."

A nasty feeling settles within me and my throat kind of closes in on me. "You don't... you don't think I-"

"No! Never, I know you wouldn't!" James stands up straight, pacing back and forth. He is anxious and I get that. Relief floods over me though. He doesn't think I would.

"It's someone in the friend group though," Lily says again. "We need to figure out who it is." At that moment, Harry's crying starts coming from upstairs.

"I'll go." Lily gets up and goes upstairs to check on Harry. James' breathe is shaky and as he looks back at me, I can really see the anxiety in his eyes. "Sirius, I have a child and a wife to take care of-"

"I won't let anything happen to you, Lily or Harry." He smiles weakly, but it doesn't quite reach his eyes. "Thanks Padfoot. But I need to protect them. But it feels so impos- sible lately. Everyone around us is getting killed and I..."

We are both quiet for a moment. I stand up and start pacing too. "Okay. So who could it be? It's not you and it's not me. So that leaves Moony, Wormy, Marls-"

"It can't be Marls," James interrupts. "I'm positive. She couldn't do that to either of her best friends, no matter how much someone would pursuade her." I nod in agreement.

Marlene is out of option. "Does that mean Cas is also a no-go?" James scrunches up his face in contemplation. "Not necessarily, but I would say it's most likely not Dorcas either. Marls would have noticed something. This spy is like a double-agent though. Who is absent most?"

Bile gathers in my throat as I mentally answer that question. No, not my Moony, could it be? "I mean, werewolfs are given more options under Voldemort's reign..."

James' eyes shoot up to me so fast I barely see the movement. "You think Moony would do that? Really Padfoot?!" He scoffs at my suggestion.

"I mean, I really don't know!" I feel tears in my eyes and I sit down on the couch. "I can't see any of us do something like this. Who else has motive?"

"Moony is my best friend after you," James' body slumps down on the other couch as he stammers over his words. "Not to mention he's Lily's best friend! He would never do such a thing!"

"I mean if you would've seen the future that's waiting for him after this war, you would worry as well." I can't even believe myself right now, my own thoughts. "He's basically doomed to be unemployed forever Prongs! I can see how he might... hope for a better future with the Death Eaters and how they treat the werewolfs."
