Chapter 19

I gave into Caroline and decided to get myself a pregnancy test. I told her I wanted to do it alone and she totally understood.

As I stood in the bathroom waiting for my results, I sucked in a deep breath, releasing it when the plus sign was seen on the little stick I was holding in my hand.

Tears welled up in my eyes and I couldn't believe this would happen to me. We were so careful. I started thinking of all the bad things that could happen. What's going to happen with my school work? What if something's wrong with the baby? Am I even keeping the baby? What will my parents think? These thoughts rushed through my mind and suddenly all I could see was darkness.

I woke to the sound of hospital machines beeping. I slowly opened my eyes realizing where I was at the moment. I looked down at my ugly gown and bracelet with my name on it. I couldn't remember a thing. I jumped as the door suddenly opened,

"Blake! It's been almost 24 hours!" Caroline ran to my side grabbing my face and embracing me in her arms. She's a true best friend. "ALEX."

"Alex is here too?" I asked her as he came rushing in to see me.

"Well of course B, do you think your best friends are going to just leave you when you're in most need? I called your parents too don't worry. They hopped on a flight as soon as I told them."

"You what?" I stared at her.

"Everything will be okay." Alex butted in.

"Luke," I said, "Luke, where is he?"

"I never called him..I'm sorry." Caroline said, "don't worry I'll call him now."

Someone who looked like a doctor walked through the doorway, asking Alex and Caroline to leave for a moment.

"Good morning Ms. Edwick. You were asleep for quite some time weren't you?" he smiled.

"I guess so.." I said quietly.

"My name is Doctor Bennett," he shook my hand, "Good news. You're gonna be fine and so is your little baby. You fell pretty hard on your head so you'll need to stay here for a few days to recover, and that way we can keep an eye on you."

"Thank you. Um..so do you know what the gender of the baby is yet?" I smiled, actually starting to be excited about the little human growing inside my belly.

He boomed with a chuckle, "First time mom? Honey, you won't find out for a few more months."

"Oh." I laughed along with him.

"I will see you tomorrow Ms. Edwick. Your recovery will be quick and easy." He shook my hand once again as he left my room.

The sudden silence allowed the annoying beeping noise to fill my ears again.

Where is Luke?
