In The End (Chapter 13)

Mr. Dawns POV

2nd period started. I gazed around the room but, Tobie wasn't there. I thought it was nothing. I took role an began class.

"Mr. Dawns?" A girl named Sally said. She was very skinny with shorter hair. She was Polynesian.

"Yes Sally?"

"Can I go to the bathroom?"

"Yeah. Good luck."

Some people watched as she left.

Drake said:

"Good luck?"

"Well, she said can. Makes me kinda nervous." I said smiling. After everyone laughed I got a phone call from the office.

"Matt?"

"Yes."

"Tobie, won't be here for awhile. So, don't worry about why she's not there."

"Worry?! Why worry??? I'm not worrying... Who's worrying?!" I began to think I've been caught.

"Calm down. So you know what happened?"

"What happened?" I slyly pushed.

"She's in the hospital, Matt..."

"Why?!" My voice raised.

"Suicidal attempt---" she said. She continued but I slowly put the phone down and hung up. I knew it was because of me. I turned around to see every little face looking at me.

"What?" I said to break the awkwardness.

"Who was that?" Gabe said.

"The office. It was not about you guys." I said fake smiling. I handed out papers shaking. I grabbed my bag and my jacket and took off to the office. I ran into the room.

"Matt?" The lady said.

"Why aren't you in class? Where are you going?"

"Dave's got my room. Where is Tobie at? What hospital?"

"Marry Joes Hospital."

"Thanks." I said running to the door. I ran down stairs to my car and drove off. I've haven't missed a day yet so, I'm sure i'll be fine. I parked my car in the parking lot and walked in. Seeing sad faces of deaths and happy faces of births. I walked up to the front desk for directions.

"Uh, yeah, hi." I said.

The old man looked up.

"Sir." He said.

"Where is the emergency room?" I asked.

"We have more then one, sir. What one do you need?"

"I need one for someone trying to- trying to kill themselves..." I said slowly.

His eyes widened.

"7th floor. Then take a right. Then right again. Then left... Then right." He said slow as hell.

"Thank you..." I said a bit annoyed I got into the elevator as 3 people starred into me. Felt like they starred into my soul.

I got off on the 7th floor trying to remember where to go. I guess I should of listened more. I looked around the area feeling like I wanted to cry. It was just a huge maze to me. I wandered until I found what I was looking for. I saw names of Patients down a long hall on doors. I didn't know if I should check in or not or where to even go. I didn't wanna get lost again. I started to walk down that hall. Each door had a small window in it. I gazed through every window and looked through every name. Until I saw Tobie. My eyes lit up. Even if it was bad seeing her here. I looked through the small glass. She was getting the cuts stitched up. She jolted in pain as she starred at the ground. Her mom was no where around. I slowly opened the door.

"Tobie?" I said with guilt written on my face.
