"Morning Tobie." Mr. Dawns said as I walked into his class for 2nd.
I pulled down my sleeves a bit more.
I sat down and ignored him.
"Tobie!" He said again.
"Not talking to me Tobie? Tobie you look concerned. What's going on?"
"Nothing." I finally said back.
He walked over to me.
"High five!" He yelled.
I looked at his hand.
"Why."
"You looked like you needed a high five!"
I stutteringly high fived him softly.
"Why did you ignore me when I needed help yesterday."
He stared at me.
"I don't know." He said bluntly.
"Honestly, I thought you'd be the last person to do that." I guilt tripped.
"Tobie, when I first met you, I wanted to know you more. Don't believe those girls, you're pretty, and your personality is amazing." He confessed.
"You're lying." I said bluntly.
He grabbed my hand.
"I'm not."
I started to blush again.
"I'm only 16 you know." I reminded him.
He took his hand away.
"I'm sorry. I know you're 16 Tobie. I'm 25."
"I like your personality too." I told him.
His smile grew.
My phone vibrated. I looked at it.
It was my mom.
It read 'when you get home, you are so in trouble! You left my bed unmade!'
I sighed.
"I'm not going home after school."
"Stay after in my room." He said happily.
"Okay. Will you help me with my
math? I have a test tomorrow."
"I'm not very good at math. But, ill try." He said smiling.
"Well, at least you'll try." I responded.
By now, people were in the class room, talking so loud that no one could us.
"Alright class. Take out a piece of paper, and a pen or pencil."
I walked over too John and Demi,
"Demi, I need to tell you something."
She looked at me a little worried.
"What is it?"
"I think I like someone." I chocked.
"Who?!" She gasped.
"Mr. Dawns..." I said slowly.
She looked at me for a long time.
"You're joking?"
"No. I'm not."
"Why do you?"
"He's nice, cute, and cares." I said glancing at him.
"Does he know?"
"No."
"I won't say anything." She said with a trustworthy smile.
After school I walked into his room,
"Hello, Mr. Dawns."
"Call me Matt, Tobie."
"Matt Dawns?"
"Correct."
I stared at him. He didn't look like a Matt. I'd never think his name would be Matt. Maybe Colton.
I snapped out of my trance and walked over to him and took a seat.
"Mr. Daw- er- Matt, I don't get this one." I said.
I showed him the problem.
He looked at very closely.
"x=7 right?" I said hoping that i had got it right.
"x=3" He said.
"How?"
He explained in more detail.
(I don't think you want to read how to do a math problem)
"Wouldn't that make it, x=5 and not 3?"
He stared at my answer for a moment, then replied,
"Oh... Yeah, i guess it is 5."
He started to look at another problem as I wrote my answer down.
"Matt," I started to say shyly.
He looked up at me.
"How do you know if you like someone " I asked.
"You just know. Everyone's different. Why? Are you not sure if you like your boyfriend?"
"Boyfriend? I don't have one."
His eyes widened followed by a simple small smile.
"I have never been into a relationship with anyone. But, I'm sure I like this guy." I slightly repeated
"Let me guess, the lady's man Alex?"
"No."
"Nick?"
"No."
"Zac, Sam, Zane?"
"Nope."
He looked stumped but pleased.
"Well, whoever he is... Why don't you just tell him?"
"He doesn't like me back..."
I leaned in a little closer.
"How do you know...?" He said leaning in too.
Our foreheads touched. Our lips started to move closer to one another when,
"Matt?"
We split apart instantly. Both of our hearts pumping and racing fast.
I pretended to be looking and doing a math problem as my face was burning red. I'm sure it was me blushing.
He got up and walked over.
"Yes Kathy?"
"My class is full of papers and crap. Do you know were the janitor is?"
"No, sorry."
"He must be on the 2nd floor." She said racing away.
He turned back, walked over slowly and sat down.
My face was still looking down at the problem as I read a sentence again and again pretending to be into it.
"I need to go." I said.
It was the only way to get out of such an awkward situation like this.
I grabbed my stuff and started to leave
He got up and walked me to the door.
"Bye Tobie." He said waving goodbye a bit.
"Bye Mr. Dawns." I replied walking down the stairs.
