You and Hunter were lounging on the couch, enjoying a moment of peace. As you glanced at his hands, curiosity got the better of you. You couldn't help but be drawn to the scars that adorned his hands.
“If... You don't mind me asking, what happened to your hands?" you gently inquired, your fingers instinctively reaching out to trace the scars. His initial flinch didn't go unnoticed, he felt so vulnerable just talking about that.
Hunter's heart raced as he grappled with the decision. He didn't want to burden you with the weight of his history, but your gentle persistence pushed him to consider sharing his truth. "Well..." he began, letting out a sigh. "I was part of the Emperor’s coven as the Golden Guard."
Sensing his hesitation, you quickly reassured him, "If you don't want to tell me, you don't have to force yourself, Hunter. I understand."
Hunter shook his head, appreciating your concern. He wanted to. He wanted to confide in you, to let you in on the darkest parts of his past. But the fear of your reaction, the shame that gnawed at his core, held him back. Hunter couldn't bear the thought of you looking at him differently, with judgment or disgust.
"I... I can't tell you the entire story," Hunter finally admitted, his voice heavy with regret. "But I was..." He trailed off, unable to continue. The weight of his sins pressed heavily on his chest, and the words stuck in his throat.
Hunter stopped and closed his eyes. He couldn't, he just couldn't.He'd hurt so many people. So many... innocent people. It disgusted him, a relentless reminder of the pain he had inflicted. "I hurt people," he confessed, his voice barely audible. "Just... because of my job."
The weight of his guilt threatened to crush him, and his voice wavered with a mixture of shame and sorrow. "I... I just followed orders," he continued, his voice trembling. "I had to or... I would not survive."
The vulnerability in Hunter's confession was palpable, his voice trembling with shame and sorrow. He had carried this burden alone for far too long, never daring to reveal the depths of his remorse.
"Did you regret what you have done?" you asked, your voice filled with genuine curiosity and concern.
Hunter's eyes remained closed, It was a simple question.
But it brought up so much pain.Hunter wanted to tell you that he hated his past. He wanted to be honest, but the fear of hurting you, of potentially driving you away, held him back. He didn't want to burden you with the weight of his guilt.
"I... do regret the things I've done," he finally confessed, his voice barely above a whisper. "I'm so sorry." The sincerity in his voice was undeniable, as if every word carried the weight of his remorse.
You pulled his hand towards you, gently kissing each of his scars, your gesture filled with compassion and understanding. "Hey, it's alright," you reassured him, your voice laced with tenderness. "You were just trying to survive. You had no way of getting out of it. This is just a reminder of how brave you've been to be able to make it out this far."
Hunter blushed, his heart melting at your words and actions. He had never experienced such love and acceptance before. He loved you deeply, grateful for your unwavering understanding of his past. Looking down at his hands, tracing the scars, he felt a surge of emotions. "I..." he began, his gaze meeting yours as a smile spread across his face. There were no words that could adequately express his gratitude. You were the first person who truly knew him, and he cherished that connection.
"I'm so glad you trust me enough to tell me this," you whispered, your voice filled with warmth and affection.
Hunter's smile widened, overwhelmed by the depth of his emotions. Your words made him feel wanted, accepted, and most importantly, loved. He kissed you, a burst of joy filling his heart at the thought of being with someone who understood him on such a profound level. He was proud to have found someone like you, someone who embraced him despite his flaws and past mistakes.
