Today, you had a mischievous glint in your eyes. A plan had formed in your mind, and the soon to be victim in question was none other than your best friend Hunter. It was about time he focused on something else other than studying all the time.
As Hunter was engrossed in his book, you tiptoed quietly opening the door to his room. With a sly grin, you set up a trap, a harmless prank that would surely catch him off guard.
Just as you finished setting up the prank, Hunter's voice interrupted your thoughts. "What do you want?" he looked at you, a hint of suspicion in his eyes.
Ah,it seems that you’ve been caught.
You put on your most innocent expression. "I can't check up on my friend just because I want to?" you replied, feigning innocence. "You always have some scheme in mind. What is it this time?" Hunter asked, raising an eyebrow.
A mischievous spark danced in your eyes as you shook your head, doing your best to suppress your giggles. "Nothing…" you said, your voice laced with mischief, before bolting off, leaving Hunter standing there, bemused and curious.
Curiosity got the better of Hunter as he cautiously approached the spot where you had been standing. His eyes scanned the area, curious to what you have been up to. Unbeknownst to him, the trap has been set, lying in wait for its prey ready to spring into action.
With a sudden whoosh, a cascade of confetti exploded from above, showering Hunter in a colorful rain of paper. His eyes widened in surprise, his hand instinctively swatting at the confetti as it fluttered around him.
Laughter bubbled up within you as you watched from a safe distance. Hunter's expression shifted from surprise to mild annoyance, but a small smile tugged at the corners of his lips.
He playfully glared at you.
Still giggling, as you approached him. "I couldn't resist! You're always so serious and focused, I thought it was time to shake things up a bit."
Hunter's lips curled into a smirk, a mischievous glimmer dancing in his eyes. "Is that so?" he replied, his voice taking on a playful tone. "Well, consider this a warning. I have a few pranks up my sleeve too."
Your laughter subsided, replaced by a mixture of excitement and apprehension. "Oh, really? Well, challenge accepted. Let's see who can outwit the other."
A delightful prank war proceeds to ensue between you and Hunter. Although you guys had fun, this caused both of you to constantly be on edge. There were illusions that turned his bed into a trampoline, enchanted items that played harmless tricks on him, and clever wordplay that left him momentarily flustered.
As the days passed, the pranks grew more elaborate, each one aimed at catching the other off guard.
In the end, you both decided to call off the prank war at midnight after a week full of shenanigans.
You were pretty sure your heart won’t be able to take much more from the constant surprises.
The both of you were in Hunter’s room. Just sitting next to each other in comfortable silence while you both read a book.
Hunter's voice broke through the silence, "Hey, I've got something to tell you," you hummed in acknowledgement, letting Hunter know you were listening.
"I like you," he said, his voice soft and sincere.
Wait… WHAT? THIS DUDE CAN’T BE SERIOUS RIGHT NOW-
You were frozen like a deer in headlights, wide-eyed from shock.
"W-wait... W-what did you just say?"“I said… I like you.”
You turned to face him, "Hunter, you already called off the prank war," you replied, your voice tinged with confusion and hope. "We passed midnight an hour ago."
"I know," he replied, a faint smile gracing his lips. His cheeks turned a shade of pink. “This isn’t a prank. I like you a lot. As in more than a friend.”
You stared at him, completely frozen by his words. You were completely speechless. It was a lot to take in."Did you... did you just...?" Your face was completely red, a smile spreading across it as you tried to process this development.
“Heh, are you trying to cosplay as a tomato right now? Your face is completely red,” Hunter chuckled. You remained silent. Your voice refusing to work.
“A-and who’s fault do you think that is? You can’t just say stuff like that out of nowhere and expect me to be completely cool about it,” you sputtered. “Besides, it's not everyday that your crush admits that he likes you back.”
Hunter smiled upon hearing your words.“Sorry, I knew for quite some time now that you liked me but I just didn’t know when was the right time to tell you. In the end I just blurted it out before I could stop myself. “
You grew embarrassed at this newfound revelation, “How did you know that I like you?”
“Well… You were quite obvious when it came to your feelings for me” Hunter chuckles. You have never felt more embarrassed than you did now.
You punched Hunter in the arm playfully.Hunter let out a playful yelp as your punch landed on his arm. "Hey, watch it!" he exclaimed, rubbing the spot where you hit him. "But seriously, I could tell by the way you looked at me, the way you smiled when we were together, and how you always found excuses to spend time with me."
Your embarrassment slowly transformed into a shy smile, the realization sinking in that Hunter had been observant all along. "I guess I wasn't as subtle as I thought..." you admitted, feeling a mix of relief and excitement. "But I'm glad you noticed."
Hunter reached out and gently took your hand in his, his touch sending a delightful shiver down your spine. "I've enjoyed our prank war, but this... this is something different," he said softly, his eyes filled with warmth. "I want to get to know you on a deeper level, I want to be there for you right by your side and make you happy."
Your heart swelled with affection, and you squeezed his hand in return. "I feel the same way, Hunter," you replied, “I feel the same.”
