Prototype #5 = Experiment: Nemean Lion Adaptation/Resurrection
Despite knowing that Tomohiko would probably show aggression towards us, Junko wanted to do what was possibly the worst idea: make the subject virtually indestructible. The name of the modifications is misleading, as there are no animalistic alterations that were performed on the experiment, and the title of "Nemean Lion" is just a comparison to a nearly unkillable creature from Greek myth.
We began the procedure for resurrection, replacing and repairing the damaged organs and vital organs. The only difference was that, all the new tissue contains proteins that make the cell walls indestructible, and heat- resistant. The cells themselves were now indestructible to molecular damage, but now we had to make the subject's skin completely impenetrable to physical harm. This was more complicated than expected. There were a multitude of trials done with various chemicals, in an attempt to get the results we wanted, but none of them were successful, and left the skin heavily damaged, so we had to start from scratch; instead of altering the existing skin, we had to create new skin with the cloning machine. Instead of solely chemical alterations, this gave us the opportunity to genetically alter the skin exactly the way we wanted to. Eventually, we were able to create skin tissue that had layers of an extremely tough protein underneath the dermis and a slightly less tough, but more versatile material on the skin's surface.
Removing the existing skin was more simple than expected. The failed chemical tests had made it so damaged that it peeled off with just a few incisions. Attaching the new skin proved to be much more difficult. We meticulously attached the new skin to the subject's body. The skin was so tough that a diamond scalpel was used to cut the pieces. We had to postpone much of the ongoing processes of the resurrection as well since we had to wait for the skin to heal back up into a singular piece without being sewn together because the needles we had couldn't pierce it. Luckily, there was no reason to worry about infections while the experiment had no skin, due to the cells being indestructible from the first parts of the process.
It seems that the protein layer below the dermis is a intense gold color, and it makes the veins appear golden from the outside. A similar effect happened to the irises and hair, which are slightly gold-tinted. Odd markings also formed around the eyes. It was during these observations, that Junko decided to give the modifications their somewhat unfitting title. Once the resurrection process was finished, some extra things were done before Tomohiko woke up. The nails were replaced with claws that are made of the same near-indestructible protein, and the canines were replaced with fangs (Note: the fangs are not made of any indestructible materials.)
