Prototype #9 = Experiment: Avian Adaptation/Resurrection

This experiment was a (somewhat unsuccessful) attempt to make Sosuke into a literal bird-person, flying abilities and all. The first step we took was while replacing the many damaged organs, with ones that were far more bird-like and adapted for flight. The new lungs are much larger and the heart is far stronger, and has thicker blood vessels, in order to beat fast like a bird's. Two extra organs have been added to the digestive system. A crop has been attached to the esophagus, and allows the body to store food for longer periods of time, and a gizzard has been added to the stomach.

The next modifications were to the muscles- we added a lot more to Sosuke's upper body so that flying would be possible once wings were added. His bones were also altered for flight, operated on to make them slightly hollow, and some were fused into singular structures. The wings themselves were tricky to create, one pair of them was formed from his arms, while the other two were created from growing more tissue and bone, and constructing the wings from that. To turn the arms into wings, we surgically modified them entirely, changing the positioning of the forearm bones, and mutilating the hand structure to be like the tip of the wing structure. The skin of the arms was then stretched between the joints to complete the "wings". Two pairs of larger wings with the same structure were created and connected to the nerves and back of the experiment.

The face was heavily modified as well to make it like that of a birds. The area from the top of his nose to his chin was partially removed, along with his teeth, and replaced with a beak, composed of keratin. The remaining pieces of his jaw were fused to it. The vocals cords were modified as well, to be like a bird's. The eyes were removed and the sockets were made much larger. The eyes were then replaced with larger ones that have highly acute eyesight. His tail is much different from that of a normal birds. A large extension was added to the spine, and at the end of it, a large, third eye was added and an optic nerve runs down the entire spine because of this.
The feet were also surgically changed, and the toes were fused together so there are only two on each foot, and claws were fused into the toes and on the back of the foot. The skin was altered last, and large amounts of mutagenic chemicals were injected into his skin in order to stimulate the growth of feathers.
