Confusion & Silence

At this point you could hear a pin drop in the silence that echoed across the ruins.
It was just the rustling of leaves that interrupted it.
Iris faced the four people.
The four people whose existence seemed impossible.
So two pairs of brown eyes and three pairs of blue looked at each other waiting to see who made the next move.
It felt like a game of chess. One wrong move and it's 'off with your head!'.
Iris stepped backward overcome by the emotions and events of the day.
She was confused... and scared but mostly confused.
Why in Aslan's name was she here?

That's when the tallest of the four stepped forward. He had short blond hair and bright blue eyes like the rest of them except one. He was tall, like really tall. He held out his hand and clearly said "Hello stranger, I'm sure you know what's going on here and I'm King..."
Iris didn't reply immediately.
To be fair she had a lot going on in her mind.
She looked at

Ok, I know King Peter. Who shouldn't exist. Cause he is a FICTIONAL CHARACTER. Hear that? What should I do.... Let him continue and , if the books are correct, inflate his ego by asking him questions. Or should I just cut him off. Yah, like I'm so polite. Nope I am NOT doing this. I'm not hearing the same story I have read like a billion times. Prepare to be shocked Pete.

Iris cut him off quite done with the whole talk .
"Ok, let me guess. You are King Peter the Magnificent," She turned her head to the raven haired girl who stood next to him, "You are Queen Susan the Gentle," she faced the blonde girl next, "You are Queen Lucy the Valiant," she finally turned to face the last person, the boy with raven hair and brown eyes, "And you are King Edmund the Just."
She slightly smirked at them and raised an eyebrow at their shock.
"Would you like me to continue?"
She asked
She didn't wait for a reply.

"Well, first of all I suggest you all pick up your pace cause I'm sorry your Majesties but it's been 1300 years since you were last here and a whole lot has changed."
The four Kings and Queens blinked and stared back at her.
King Edmund moved forward.
"Since you know our names. What would yours be?"

Oh my gods. Did Edmund. THE JUST KING. Just ask my name. Yeah, I need to take a chill pill and listen to You Need To Calm Down. Speaking of which do I have my phone??
She looked up at his face, he was waiting for a answer.
"Iris"
She started looking through her pockets of her hoodie when she felt her phone in there. With airports and a small notebook.
Yay! I still have it! Hope it's charged though.

She looked up again at the Kings and Queens of the books she loved.

"I suggest you, King Peter, catch up on the fact I'm not from here but from your own world. However, I do know what's going on."
Queen Susan frowned at that " If you are from our world, why are you dressed like that?" She pointed at Iris crop-top, hoodie and jeans.

Oop- Didn't like 1940s have like crazy closed off clothes. And like no showing skin or whatever. And this is a normal crop-top. Imagine though. If they went to 2023. Oh my days they'd be so shocked.

Laughing softly at her thoughts, Iris stared at her "You see I'm from your world just not from your time."
"What time are you from then?"
Queen Lucy spoke ,questioning Iris, curiously.
"2023, of course."
The four Pevensies looked at her in disbelief.
"Absolutely no way! 2023! But that's decades away!"
Queen Susan exclaimed before deciding to question her.
"What about the war?"
Iris blinked, suprised that Queen Susan of all people would ask about the war. She had always got the impression that Susan was the 'betrayer' of the four, instead of Edmund. She thought that Susan didn't really care about anything important other than 'nylons, lipsticks and boys.' It was said that she didn't believe in Narnia after Prince Caspian.

Wait. That's this book!

She shook her head and quietly said
"The war does not exist any more. It ended. At least not the one that's currently going on for you."
The four Pevensies frowned in confusion before the youngest stepped out.
"How do you know about us? Are you from Narnia?"
Iris smiled slightly, wishing what Lucy had said could be true.
"No, I'm not from Narnia though I wish I was. I'm from your world except it's 2023 . I know about you because you , in 2023, are characters in a book series."
Edmund's eyes sparkled with amusement as he remarked "They wrote books about us!"
Everyone in the clearing laughed at his excitement.
After recovering from her laughing fit, Iris once again faced the Kings and Queens of Old.
"Apologies your Highnesses_"
She started but Edmund, cut her off
"Please call us by our names. In our world you won't call us 'your highness' so don't call us that here."

Iris smiled not quite believeing where she was at this moment.
" Ok then, if you don't mind how about we take a break and I'll explain how I ended up here? Turns out it takes a lot of energy to stand."

Just like that, Iris just made friends with fictional characters she loved through her childhood.

The five children sat in a huddle under a group of apple trees exchanging stories of their life.

Iris smiled throughout the entire conversation.

Today is officially registered as the best day of my life! I mean I got to go to a fictional world! Also I'm talking to the Pevensies. I love my life. Now just one thing, please don't be a dream.
