Chapter 11: Avoid.

You were dreading going to set today, you didn't have to do too many scenes with Jack, since today revolved more around the Alive Five, aka the survivors from the last movie and was a short day. You were apart of the last movie, but you weren't apart of the set. It was someone else but they got cancelled and had to replace her. (Since the character in my other book was written as apart of Scream 5 and I completely forgot 😭.) You could call in sick so you didn't have to see Jack, but Mason still wanted you to come to set today, and you could never deny hanging out with Mason. Jack still hasn't said anything, probably forgot about you and the 'fake date' that he planned. How could someone, not only ditch on a date, but not text them the next day after they promised they would.

Promises meant everything to you, no matter how little. Sure he didn't know that, but promises are promises. Felt like that one time where a guy asked you out on a date and "had to go to the bathroom," but really ditched and made you pay the bill after he told you he would. Having to call your best friend to bring you your wallet because you date left is a kind of embarrassment you never want to experience again, and last night made you feel that way, just in a less screwed up way but more hurtful.

As you walked in, Mason immediately noticed you and jogged to you. "Hey y/n, you're here. I honestly wasn't expecting you to come after last night. I'm glad you're here though, I appreciate it." He gave you a tight hug, that you gladly embraced. "I really don't wanna be here, but it's my job. I'm just glad I don't have scenes with Jack." Speaking of Jack, when you let go of Mason's hug, you noticed Jack was walking your way. "Y/n! Can we-" "Uh Mason, I have something I need to show you, wanna come to my trailer real quick?" You interrupted Jack, pretending you wanted to show Mason something when you didn't.

You didn't even get Mason to understand what you asked before you started dragging him. Jack stopped in his tracks, watching you and Mason walk away. He knew right away that he fucked up. "What was that y/n?" You pushed Mason in your trailer, closing the door before looking out the tiny window to make sure Jack didn't follow you. "I cannot talk to Jack. Especially after last night. I just can't do it." You sat down, regretting to even agreeing to the whole fake dating thing in the first place. Why would you agree to something knowing it's fake while you have real feelings, and not even knowing if he likes you back?

"You can't avoid him forever y/n." Mason sat down next to you, ready to give you advice. "No, but I can today. I don't have scenes with him, and if he tries to talk to him, I will use you as an excuse." Mason let out a big sigh, which you weren't sure if it was from annoyance or not. "Y/n, just talk to him, hear the man out. Give him a chance, it can't be a bad excuse." You were quick to shake your head no. "I did. I stayed up all night waiting for him to call or text, like he said he would. Like he promised." Mason looked down knowing you were right. You weren't going to budge.

"Well, better be prepared to talk to him. If he really wants to talk to you, which trust me, he does, he will find a way and soon. When he's dedicated, he makes it happen." You knew Mason was right, but you still had plenty of time.. hopefully. "It'll be fine. I just need to avoid him today, and I'll be totally fine tomorrow. Sure tomorrow we have a lot of scenes planned, and I don't wanna do them, but all will be good. Now let's go." You tried to push Jack out of your head for the day, and Jack leaving you alone made it all a lot easier, or so you thought. Jenna looked fine as well, guess he did a good job comforting her when he was at her place.

"Y/n, are you okay? You seem a little distracted today." Fuck, this was like the 5th time you zoned out today. "Uh yeah, yeah sorry. Just have a lot on my mind." You reassured Matt, not wanting him to worry about you. You lost count of how many times you had to redo literally one of the easiest scenes in the entire movie. Who knew Jack would take such a toll on you. "Last take before we do a break, so let's make this a good one, alright?" Matt asked all of you, but it was mostly directed towards you. You nodded, pushing all your thoughts aside. "Action!" You instantly got into character, paying close attention as you waited for you lines. Finally, the take is good.

"Y/n, come here please." Matt called out to you once he called cut. You looked over at him nervously, wondering if you just lost you career after fucking up so many times. "Nothing bad, you aren't in trouble or anything, I just gotta talk to you." You sighed in relief, walking over to him. "So as we all know, you haven't been your best today. Are you alright? Did something happen? I'm sorry for blasting you out earlier, I would've pulled you aside before the last take, but we are on such a tight schedule today." Matt had a true look of concern, waiting for you reply. "Oh you're fine. I haven't been my best today, I'm sorry. Just have a lot on my mind after something that happen last night. Nothing big, just has me thinking a ton." You kind of lied, not wanting to worry your director.

"You sure you're alright?" It meant a lot to you that even your director cared about if you feeling alright. "Yes I'm sure, thank you for asking. I won't let it get to me anymore though." "Alright good, but do you happen to know what's up with Jack? He's also been looking down today. I don't know if it's something in the air or not." Jack has been noticeably upset? Maybe it had something to do with Jenna last night. You didn't even want to consider the thought that it's because you're upset. "I have no clue." You don't wanna tell your director about that somewhat connection you and Jack have, and definitely don't want him knowing the events of last night may be the reasons both of you are upset.

"Hm. Well, we're done for the day. Make sure he's alright for me please, I gotta leave in a minute." You gave him a nod, while he gave you a slight pat on the arm, saying a quick and small thank you before walking off. You didn't know if you were going to check on him or not, after all, he is the reason you are upset right now. You left before anyone noticed, telling yourself you would just send Mason a text once you got to your hotel. You still didn't have any messages from Jack. Guessing he gave up after you ignored him the one time he tried to talk to you. You were bored out of your mind, so you just asked Mason and Devyn to come over and watch some movies, it was basically your guys' thing after all.

It was getting late, and tomorrow was a big film day for all of you. "We should go to bed, tomorrow is a busy day." You said, turning off the TV with the movie that was on the end credits. "Yeah you're right. We'll see you tomorrow. Please try to talk to Jack, for the sake of everyone tomorrow." Devyn said, giving you a hug at the doorway. "Yeah, we don't want you guys being upset about it anymore." Mason said, going to give you a hug before you stopped him. "Wait, he's upset about it too? I thought it had something to do with Jenna?" You asked, confused. "No y/n. He is beating himself up for what happened last night. By the way, he may have found a way to talk to you." You were too tired to even talk about this anymore, so you just went in to give Mason a hug before shutting the door and going straight to bed.

You wished you asked Mason what Jack's plan was to talk to you. You couldn't help but wonder how he was going to do it.

AN: I can sense myself getting writers block soon and I am so scared for it. I have no clue what I'm going to do after these next couple chapters. But that is a problem for the future. I hoped you guys liked this chapter, I am honestly kind of disappointed in it. But it's currently 1 am and I am exhausted.
