A/N: this chapter was mostly already separated, so this one was pretty easy.

"That'll be $3.59," the cashier read. Theo handed her a crumpled $5 bill from his back pocket, in return she handed him his change and coffee.

He got back to Liam's room, setting aside the coffee cup on the table next to him and sitting  back down next to Liam, in the same chair he'd previously slept in the night before.

His appetite was feeble, how was he supposed to eat when Liam's senseless body layed right  next to him?

Looking over at Liam, all he saw was his motionless body. Theo wondered why Liam was the one in the hospital bed, whilst he was perfectly fine, why bad things always happened to those who least deserved it?

How come those who gave the most, always ended up hurt the worst?

Then again Theo knew why.

It was because those were the same ones who thought that everyone good or bad could be saved, that the ones beyond help could be helped, those like himself.

His brain started running, tormenting him with negative thoughts, telling him that it's all his fault, that he should be the one whose unconscious, at least then nobody would be loosing sleep over it.

Nobody would be questioning his state if it was him instead.

Liam didn't deserve this, nobody did

A buzz came from his phone, it was a message from Scott.

(9:20) Scott: Offer still stands, we're going for food right now.

Theo debated with himself, he was starving.

(9:20) Scott: Are you sure you don't wanna join?

He replied.

(9:21) Theo: Where are you guys going?

As much as he didn't want to leave Liam, this was torture. He told himself that he wasn't abandoning Liam since he'd be back before he woke, but he still felt guilty.

(9:21) Scott: Just to a basic diner, brunch thing. You coming then?

(9:21) Theo: Sure, which one?

(9:22) Scott: The one round the corner from the hospital.

(9:22) Theo: See you soon.

(9:22) Scott: See you soon man.

Theo gave Liam one last glance before leaving and getting in his truck.

If he'd kissed Liam's forehead before leaving, we'll then that was just between the two of them, it's not as if Liam would remember.

Everywhere in Beacon Hills had reminded him of Liam, even his truck.

Although, the scent of him has passed years ago and was no longer present, he was reminded of that one time he'd driven Liam home after the zoo.

Theo would never admit it, but he was secretly proud of Liam for managing his anger so well and reframe himself from attacking Nolan, the first time, not the second time when he'd actually jumped off the cliff with Nolan.

Luckily, it wasn't an actual cliff, and nobody got seriously hurt.

Theo had never known how he'd done it, but he didn't care, Liam was improving which was all that mattered.

If he was able to keep calm, that ment he would have a better chance in a battle, since Liam would use his head, not his fists.

He could hear Liam's voice echo in his ears, see the same doubt sparkle within his eyes. "I almost killed him, didn't I?" Liam had asked, the young boy was kicking himself.
