Chapter Forty-Three

After the rift closed, I opened a portal back to the Institute. Alexander immediately dragged us to Magnus's loft.

"Alexander, what are we doing here?" I asked him.

"We are planning our wedding." He told me.

"I see. Then, I will start designing my dress." I told him.

He nodded before deciding on the decorations. I don't know how long I sat there going through different designs in my mind of how I want my wedding dress.

"Have y'all eaten yet?" Maryse asked us, walking inside with some food.

I didn't even hear her, with how distracted I am.

"No, we haven't." Alexander told her.

"Thank you, though." I said, grabbing my share of the food from her.

I walked outside the room, giving them privacy to talk. I finally decided on what I would wear. After Maryse left, I went back inside, helping Alexander with the decorations and flowers.

I woke up to movement. I slowly move myself and see Alexander on the phone.

"What happened?" I asked him.

"Something happened to Isabelle and Catarina is coming over to check on Magnus lizard." He explained.

"Is she okay? A lizard?" I asked him.

" I don't know, and I didn't know he had one." he told me.

I just nodded, before opening a portal to the Institute. When we stepped inside, Simon started talking. Stupid vampire.

"I didn't set her on fire. We were just kissing and then--" He was telling us.

"The mundane, Izzy, really." Alec said.

"Technically, he's a vampire." Isabelle told him.

"You were kissing my sister?!" Alexander asked.

I laughed and ignored the look he threw at me.

"I mean, she was kissing me, too." Simon said.

"Easy, big brother." Isabelle said, being pulled into a hug by Alexander.

"Izzy, I was so worried. Is everything alright?" Alexander asked her as I pulled her into a hug.

"Just some temporary side effects, but I'm gonna be fine." She told us.

"Thank the angel." Simon said, going to hug her, before she pulled back.

"What. Am I not allowed to say that?" Simon asked.

"No, uh..." Isabelle started.

"Izzy. Hey, are you okay?" Jace asked as he and Clary hugged her.

"We came as soon as we heard." Clary said.

"Great. Hugs for everybody else." Simon said.

I just grabbed Alexander's arm, wrapping it around me, leaning into his shoulder.

"Simon, it's.... the heavenly fire from when the sword exploded... until it leaves my system, I can't touch anyone with demon blood." She told us.

"Then, why did you hug Stella?" Simon asked.

"Because I have angel blood, too." I said, like it was obvious.

"I have angel blood mixed with my demon blood. It would have affected me if the hug was long, but it was a small hug, so no burning." I explained to him.
