At 6:03 am, I woke up when my alarm was about to ring in two minutes. The closet was full of the colours grey and burgundy. I dressed in a pleated skirt, short sleeved shirt, blazer and tie. I slid my knee-high socks on and grabbed the doc martens to wear them on the stairs. I decided to keep my hair down as I really couldn't be bothered to style it. Putting on some minimal makeup, I checked the time and realised I had half an hour left. I put my phone down on the dark, marble counter, making some breakfast.

"Hey, excited?" Chris asked, he was my mother's husband for nine years.
His dark hair brushed to the right and a brown beard, Chris gulped his coffee down his throat and grunted. I nodded, grabbing my toast and spreading the jam onto it. He smiled, patting my shoulder.

"I'm glad you got in, kid. Don't worry if you'll fail a class. The education is definitely higher than at St. Louise's."
I shot him a genuine smile, munching on my jam toast as I took a hold of a granola bar and threw it inside my navy, flowery Van backpack.

...

I tossed my bike lock key into my inside blazer pocket, my backpack was in the basket and I started to drive to the school. I had twenty minutes by bike if I drove fast enough.
I strolled through the corridors, the floor reminding me of a chess board. I searched for Dr McGowan's office. With the school being like a college and the students crowded in the corridors, it didn't make it any easier. I pushed through the crowds, looking at the classroom boards. Classroom F16, classroom E2, the nurse's office and finally the heavy doors with golden knobs was the headmaster's office. I knocked gently on the door hearing a loud, "come in!" From the office, a lady with round, thin glasses and grey hair in a bun smiled annoyingly. I closed the door behind me, causing the sound of students to disappear. I walked up to the lady, Ms Belomny, a weird name, I thought.

"Good morning, I'm new and was informed to meet the headmaster" I mentioned, holding my hands together.
The lady squinted at me, standing up and vanishing behind the other doors. She nodded to someone- assuming the headmaster- and told me that I could go in. I knocked on the wooden door, hearing a "yes?" This door was way heavier than the earlier one, I struggled to close it and I sat down on one of the puffy armchairs.

"Morning, Aurora. I'm very glad you were able to meet me before starting classes. I have your schedule, map and other needed information for your time in this school. I've added you into American Studies and Philosophy of Mindfulness. In science and mathematics, you should be able to continue on with your current course of study, assuming our course load doesn't prove to be too much."
I nodded, looking around the office. It reminded me of the one in Gilmore Girls, Chilton I think. Dr McGowan had a fireplace, three comfy armchairs (one behind the desk and two in front), long bookshelves covering the whole wall and overall it looked cosy.

"Would you like a cup of coffee? I roast it myself" She suggested.

"Yes please, Dr McGowan."

"Oh please call me Dr Mac, honey."
Once Dr Mac roasted the coffee, she sat down sipping on it. I did the same.

"Now, to finish your schedule, what are you interested in?"

"Does poetry and law count?"

"Of course! Tell me, why do you like poetry?"
"I'm not sure if I like poetry but I am interested. My heart just forces me to read or write  down my own thoughts and feelings in a beautiful way..."

"Okay, how about criminology?"

"I find it fascinating how you can solve a murder in a few months or earlier- some might take years or still be unsolved yet it never fails to amaze me. I would like to work in court or in the laboratory, they also pay well."

"Hm, okay. Now, I think I could slot you into criminal law and creative writing. Also, what sport would you like to choose? We have many: basketball, baseball, track, tennis, soccer, football..."
