"I have no clue what to wear..." I groaned, throwing myself on the bed.
Max patted my back as Aveen sighed, "girl, you have a full closet of clothes and you're telling me you don't know what to wear?"
"Yes" My voice muffled as my face was in my pillow.
I could hear Aveen sliding the racks along the metal. She threw a piece of material on the bed, I rolled onto my stomach, seeing that Max was now sitting in front of my desk, touching my stuff without my consent like always... Aveen pulled me up with her smooth hands as I studied the clothes she picked out. A midnight blue dress in silver sparkles and a blue jean jacket. The girl squatted down, dragging the boxes from under my bed, which had my shoes inside."Get those cowboy boots, they'll probably match." Max told Aveen, when she picked up the brown, knee length cowboy boots.
I gasped quietly, how did they do that so perfectly in time?!"Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love you both!" I exclaimed, grabbing the clothes and heading to my bathroom.
...
"Nervous?" Max asked, turning his sight from the road for a second.
Max was like a brother to me, we were the first ones who met in our friend group. He was a year older than me and found out that we went to the same school. I smiled at Max, his blonde hair nicely sitting on his head and his hazel eyes concentrating on the road. The black button-up shirt and white washed jeans looked really good on him... what?!"Dunno, not really," I murmured, averting my gaze back to the road, "It's weird that on the first day they invited me to a party... Right?"
"Nah, they just want you to fit in or make new friends. Maybe they find you interesting."
"I am interesting, dummy."
He laughed, and we arrived in front of Theadora's house. We were fifty four minutes late but we didn't care.
Max opened the door, "shall we?"
I shook my head, taking his hand and closing the door behind me. The house was exquisite. Loud music was heard from the house as we both entered. I saw many different faces, most from my grade, some older. A familiar trio made their way to us, a redhead, brunette and a tall boy."Hello, Aurora. I see you made it" Theadora cheerfully said.
"Yes, this is Max" I introduced, Theadora came up closer to him.
"Hi, I'm Thea. This is Becca and Xander."
"Hey" Becca quietly said.
"Pleasure to meet you, Max."
"Hello to you too" Max replied, shaking Alexander's hand.
"Well, I hope you guys have a great time. The food and drinks are in the kitchen, you'll find it. I have three bedrooms, three bathrooms and the living rooms that way. Just don't break anything please" Theadora smiled, her voice sounded persuasive and calming.
Her brunette hair didn't seem to be that brunette. It was way much darker, maybe she dyed it? Her brown eyes were lovingly, just like Lucian's were at the fireplace- Did I just fall in love with her!?"No problem and thanks for inviting me" I returned the smile, placing Max's hand into mine and dragging him along to the kitchen.
I poured myself some cola as Max took three shots without drinking anything after. I smiled, breathing through my nose. He pulled me to dance with him but I refused."Oh come on! Live a little, don't be like Aveen" He pouted, I shoved his shoulder.
"First of all, don't compare me to anyone and second of all, you should be careful with those drinks."
"Whatever, come on Rora!"
I gave in, letting him pull me to the living room. He twirled me around as I laughed, I suddenly pictured the moment when Lo and Ant danced by the fire. I still craved to love someone how Romeo loved Juliet. I snapped out of my thoughts as Max told me he was going to this girl. Player, I joked in my head.
The house smelt like alcohol, sweat and cigarettes. I decided to step outside, the pool was open and a few people swam in the chlorine. They seemed happy, I felt happy (before Max left me). Sitting down on the step, a warm shiver came over me."Nice boots" Someone said, I faced the someone.
"Thanks..." I glanced back down to my boots.
They were nice, I just wasn't in the mood. Have I met him before? I went back through this week and tried to remember. The phone..."You're the broken phone guy?"
"That's me" He chuckled, fixing his fluffy cocoa hair.
I covered my face with my hands, thinking that I'd become invisible somehow. The boy put an arm around my shoulder, which wanted me to jolt back and punch him but his presence made me comfortable."It's alright, Thornsbury. I got it covered," I opened my mouth but he cut me off, "I don't want your money. Stop it, seriously."
I think he found this situation funny but most people would be mad at me and probably beat me up if I was lucky. The boy stood up, towering over me."My brother would like those shoes, where'd you get them?"
"Ma's closet."
He pinched his brows in a puzzled way."They were my mother's."
"Oh, cool..."
I nodded, fiddling with my hands. His sigh made me look up again, he sat down by me, taking my hand."I know it's probably hard to fit in here, but look on the bright side. You might as well make new friends, like me. I'm a great friend, you know, even though I might be quite annoying but I'm not that chatty like Alexander."
"Are you offering me to be friends with you?"
"Yup, friends?"
"Sure, now, let's get some drinks."
"Fun, let's go!"
I poured myself cola again and glimpsed at Jameson, who had about five shots and two glasses of whiskey and cola. He offered me whiskey but I rejected, tossing a grape into my mouth. We noticed Alexander stepping over to us."Hey, is Grayson here?" He asked Jameson, who was drunk as hell.
"How should I know, dear brother" Jameson slurred out, causing me to giggle.
"Where's your date?" Alexander asked me, seeming concerned.
"He's not my date and he's with another girl."
"Sad..." Theadora commented.
"I don't care, boys are like dogs anyways."
"Nice boots, Nash would like those" Alexander pointed out as Jameson hugged him.
"Who's Nash?"
"Oh he's the oldest, Grayson's the second oldest although he acts like he's the oldest. Nash likes cowboy related stuff."
"We are in Texas after all!" Jameson laughed as he held onto his younger brother's arm.
Theadora handed me a drink which looked like alcohol, probably was. It was a party, Aurora, so why are you surprised? Maybe Max was right. I am boring as hell... I quickly picked my head up and downed the drink, fuck, I thought as the liquid poured down my throat.
The rest of the party was boring. I was sitting in random places- quiet places which weren't that quiet but were less loud. I could feel someone's eyes on me. Observing every muscle move... At first I thought it was Max or Jameson but when I turned my head into their direction it wasn't Max or Jameson. It was Theadora Caligaris.
