The flames danced in front of my face, the heat making me inside warm. I heard music play softly in the background, something calm but with a joyful beat. Lola and Anthony danced like the flames, Lola twirling around as they both laughed. My heart skipped a beat. I wanted that, I thought, admiring the pair. Anthony had brown hair and caramel eyes as Lola had dirty blonde hair and green eyes. Max and Aveen went for some drinks to the truck leaving me, the pair dancing and their new friend. He didn't talk much, the fire reflected in his grey eyes. I observed him, he played with a twig, spinning it around and picking at it. I wondered if I should go sit next to him. He looked lonely. I glanced back at the pair, they still danced with cheerful faces and pink cheeks. My lips curled into a heartfelt smile, how much I wanted to be them. I stood up, marching up to the tan boy. My shoes made the dirt shuffle beneath me, the boy alertly snapped his head up. He dropped his twig, clearing his throat as I sat down next to him on the thick bark.
"Hey, I'm Aurora." I greeted, sticking out my hand for him.
He shook it, giving me an awkward smile and introducing himself as Lucian. His hand had a strong grip, I bit my tongue being slightly shocked by it. I let go, taking out a bag of marshmallows from the plastic bag."Want to make some smores?" I asked, shaking the bag when he smiled, nodding his head.
I grabbed the long and strong enough twigs for us to roast the white, jumbo marshmallows. We both tried them and they were absolutely amazing. The both of us stared at the pair still dancing, I was taken back as I noticed they weren't tired. Their souls were energetic and full of happiness, so I have no clue why I was that surprised. Footsteps were heard from behind, instantly me and Lucian turned our heads in their direction."We're back!" Max shouted out, two girls following behind him.
He had two six packs in his hands and the girls held some water and three bottles of different flavours of juice. Alisa and Ant stopped dancing, they huffed dropping down on their bottoms."Where were you guys?" Alisa questioned them, snatching a water bottle from Aveen's hands.
"We got lost." Aveen rolled her eyes, glaring at Max.
"Hey! Don't blame me, blame the map."
"You were holding it upside down..." Aveen sighed, slumping down next to Lucian.
Everyone except Aveen, who just smiled while Max crossed his freckled arms muttering a "whatever".
...It was past midnight, the tents, which the boys hammered down, were up and ready. There were two tents, one for the girls and another for the boys. Well, at least that was the plan. Lola and Ant wanted to sleep together as they were together. In tent number one only Alisa and Ant slept together, no one wanted to hear or be near their funny business if it happened. So me and the rest slept together, from the left near the opening, Max slept and next to him Aveen, then me and Lucian. We all had our own sleeping bags and pillows but when I peeked at Max and Aveen I spotted they were sharing a sleeping bag. Hm... Kind of suspicious. Aveen was snoring like crazy and Lucian was peaceful, his black hair covered his forehead and eyes. He was a bit cute. I didn't want to gawk at his face though, it probably looked creepy like I was a psycho stalker or shit. I turned over facing Aveen. I tried so hard not to laugh at her face, she drooled a bit on her thick, ash brown hair. My eyes closed with me smiling, I rarely went to sleep with a smile on my face.
...
Soft whispers were heard from outside the tent, my throat was dry and my hair knotted. The morning star shined horizontally into my eyes, making me squint as I tried to open my eyes. Immediately, my breath stopped for one second, two seconds, three seconds. I saw Lucian's grey t-shirt up close, too close. I felt my arm hugging his waist as he held me down. His arm laid on my hip bone, I couldn't get up. As I kept struggling a splash of cold water woke Lucian up. I gasped, my knotty hair soaked in water and it blocked my right ear drum. Lucian groaned sitting up, he looked down at me. His tired green eyes smiling along with his pink pale lips. I don't think he realised how we were positioned earlier as he normally carried on with his day. We both got out of the tent, Aveen smirking at me, shooting a wink.
I scoffed as Max bellowed, "Good morning, slept well?"
"Excellently." I yawned, wiggling my legs.
