Chapter 17: Dessert Date
*****

"I don't think you need a lecture on how stupid that was." Aizawa looked down on you. He had brought you to the teacher's lounge where the two of you sat in front of each other in private. "I think it's time you tell me what's going on."

"I'm fine, now." A terrible lie slipped through your teeth. Your eyes flickered to the left, an attempt at avoiding eye contact. "I'm sorry for the trouble I caused."

Your teacher didn't buy it. You didn't either, but you really didn't want to continue this conversation.

"As your teacher, it's my duty to take care of my students." he said, as if reading a line from a script.

"I'm just...tired, is all." You looked down. He had held you after your last class of the day to have a chat about the incident with Bakugo, where you and he tried to create a super-explosion, but you weren't feeding him anything useful. You stood up and excused yourself, leaving him alone.

Aizawa sat, slightly annoyed. The Number One Hero, All-Might, had soon entered the classroom after the young girl left.

"These talks of a traitor among our school have left me uneasy. I can't bring myself to suspect my fellow teachers or my dear students." All-Might his strong voice boomed as he entered. The other teacher remained unchanged, still staring the door his student had just left through.

"Right."

You had stayed after-school to have your little chat with your homeroom teacher. Though were still tired and desperately wanted to close your eyes and sleep right then and there, you had only just left the school gates. You rubbed the back of your neck. You were already late for training at home, might as well ditch today.

The thoughts of where to spend the rest of your afternoon were interrupted when someone called your name. "(L/n)?"

Your mind snapped back to reality, "Uraraka? What are you still doing here?" She had been standing on the sidewalk, her school bag still in hand.

Her feet fidgeted in place to go along with the look of concern on her face. "Well... I was waiting for you, actually."

Your tired expression fell. Right, she had seen the incident with Bakugo and Aizawa. You weren't that close to her as others, but you still knew enough to know she cared about her friends. "Yeah, sorry about earlier. Not my best moment, I admit." you forced a fake laugh and tried to walk past her.

"Wait!" she grabbed the sleeve of your uniform and said, "I had a question for you." Uraraka bit her lip and took a deep breath before saying, "Why do you want to become a Pro Hero?"

Her question made you freeze. You weren't sure how to answer. After a loud breeze breaking the long silence, Uraraka spoke again. "I'm sorry, that was a personal question, wasn't it? I shouldn't have asked-"

"Would you like to join me at a cafe? My treat." you softly smiled. The bouncy girl perked up and quickly agreed.

Once you two were seated after arriving at a rather cute and small building, a menu was handed out by the waiter. The two of you had ordered tea while browsing through the list of sweet foods.

Your phone rang, the words Mother in bold on top of the screen. You quickly forwarded the call, which Uraraka took notice of. "Are you sure you don't want to get that? I saw the caller ID, you don't have to-"

You waved her off. "No, no, it's fine." Taking a sip of your drink calmed your nerves a bit. "I'm taking the Pro Hero Course...for my parents." you explained. Not entirely a lie. You mentally patted yourself on the back for telling at least a half truth.
