CHAPTER FOUR
"Oshomole, is this you?" a feminine voice startled Adam who was busy going through a file.
He looked up; eyes squinted and forehead creased as he stared at the lady for a few seconds. Something about her was familiar but he couldn't place a finger on it. Or perhaps it was how fluent his name sounded on her lips.
He knew it might seem rude if he asked her how she knew him especially in the presence of members of the board. That too would be embarrassing on his part.
He surveyed all the other occupants of the room and subtly cleared his throat before greeting her. She was standing not more than four feet next to him.
"Good day to you too. I presume you don't remember me?" she said; smirking at his inconvenience.
"Ehh, forgive me." He pulled at the rim of his eyeglasses.
She walked past him, halting by his right side. "Eight years must be so long for you to have forgotten," she said.
He was getting irritated with how she beat about the bush.
"Oh! I see you've already met." The Chief said when he met both of them talking. "Mr Adam, meet the representative from OKM, Beauty Okeoma. Miss Beauty, you're looking at one of the best engineer we have in TSF, Mr Adam Oshomole."
Adam's eyes bulged as recognition set in. The name rang a bell. He felt a twinge of shame for not identifying her earlier.
He examined her appearance closely, she's changed a lot. She used to be lanky back then but now she's added a few pounds in the right places. She didn't appear too thick in the red fitting gown she was putting on but she didn't seem too slim either. Even her radiant skin gave him the impression that she now paid attention to taking care of herself.
Before they parted ways, she was still a girl. How had she grown into a completely different woman within a span of eight years? Well, looking at the changes in his own life, he shouldn't judge.
"How have you been?" he said soon after Chief left them.
"I'm good, and from all I've heard about you, it's safe to say you're doing well too?"
"All thanks to God." He offered her a seat next to his before the presentation began.
She watched as he presented the package to the board members; fascinated at how much he's changed. He maintained his body shape despite the ring on his finger even though she has no idea how long he's been married. Most people have the ideology that when a man is happily married, the changes in his body and physical appearance are usually a giveaway.
She was pleased with what he came up with but noted a few areas that needed slight changes. When she made known her opinion, they agreed he would apply the changes in due time but for that they needed to work together.
"I'm sure Mr Adam can create a few hours from his schedule to work with you on this?" Chief suggested independent of Adam's approval.
"Can you?" Beauty probed to be sure.
Adam was unsure of this new development but he agreed nonetheless. He felt the need to complete what he had begun and successfully too. As they signed a partnership deal, they also fixed on the days and hours to work on the new program.
"So, do I know her?" Beauty asked as he led her through the hallway.
"Who?"
"Your wife of course," she clarified.
"Oh, I don't think so." He admitted, which was not a lie because only strong followers of their ministry on or off social media knew them. They were not that famous but were trending with each day that passed especially after their talk-of-the-town wedding.
