"But the master is not going to spare me if you do that, please consider it again, senior Julian!" Hyunjin was distracted by the commotion created by his subordinate. "Senior Samuel! Would you please make senior Julian understand?" He further said. Unknowing the situation Hyunjin closed his books and turned at him."Do not pull Samuel into this! He is not going to suffer for you again." Julian said in a very angry tone.
"I swear this is the last time! I will not leave the tower again! Please consider it for this time."
"What happened?" Hyunjin finally spoke. "What did Heliot do?"
Julian sighed as the subordinate named Heliot was fidgeting. "He left the quarters again last night. I was on duty, you know I have to fill up the names, I cannot lie." Julian explained.
"Again?" Hyunjin sighed. "Why did you not come back last night?" Hyunjin asked Heliot who was still pretty scared.
".....My girlfriend! She was earnest..... I just could not leave her alone.... Can you please let it go for once?" Heliot pleaded while Hyunjin and Julian facepalmed. The younger was busy sparing time for his girlfriend where his senior would be almost in trouble for that.
"Heliot......you know Julian cannot lie, if it was me that would be a different case. Talk to the master do not make it hard for Julian." Hyunjin said.
"....Okay, fine. He will give me hundreds of tasks for a punishment." Heliot sighed before leaving the room.
"Wow, how did you manage? I have been trying the whole morning yet you did it in a second." Julian asked while taking a seat beside Hyunjin.
"I do not really know, Heliot seems to listen to me since I accepted punishment instead of him." Hyunjin laughed before going back to his book.
"I cannot believe that brat was making love to his girlfriend while I was dead worried. Here I cannot even manage to get a date" Julian scoffed which Hyunjin just laughed at.
"He has a face girls get attracted to." Hyunjin said without taking his eyes off the book.
"So do you, where is your date then? You are mostly alone and you do not even go home on vacation." Julian said shifting his weight on Hyunjin while checking the book he was reading. Hyunjin didn't reply to Julian that only got him impatient. "You are no fun."
"I thought you could not lie? Dating is banned in the tower." Hyunjin mocked. "Also.... I do not have anyone to go back to."
"Then? What are you going to do after the self expedition is over?" Julian asked. "You will be at your coming out of age by then."
"I..... I have not thought about it. What about you? What are you going to do?" Hyunjin asked, looking at Julian.
"Me? I am probably going to look for a job in the city, I hope someone filthy rich hires me or I get into the mage society."
The city reminded Hyunjin of de Croix manor, he had only visited it twice in the last eleven years and Lord Nicholas and his wife had a son the year after Hyunjin left. Even though Lord Nicholas came to visit him very regularly, Hyunjin never agreed to go back there. He still couldn't find the courage to stay there for a long while, it still brought him the horrors of transmigration. He lived in a situation where he would even believe ghosts were real. Yet he couldn't make the mage tower his home either, he felt as if he wasn't welcomed there. Even though he was highly praised by his masters, his associates didn't quite like him, mostly for being an easterner. They would try to pick up on him when he was a newcomer, but once they discovered he was a de Croix, they stopped, but they never befriended him. The only friends Hyunjin could make in this hostile environment were his roommates, Julian and Heliot. Julian was the son of a local baron, whereas Heliot was a commoner who had to prove his ability to enter the mage tower.
