Sophie woke up to the sound of a small voice yelling "STEVEN! STOP PUTTING YOUR TOYS ON MY SIDE OF THE ROOM! I'm sorry, I don't know what's gotten into me." Katlyn yelled. "I do, you manifested as an Empath, it wasn't this bad for me but you're probably gonna be a lot more powerful than me." Keefe said. Sophie got up and went downstairs where she found the four of them in the nursery. "Why didn't you wake me up?" Sophie asked Keefe. "You had just fallen asleep and I wanted to let you get some rest." Keefe said, smirking. "Thanks." Sophie said. "Good morning mommy!" Katlyn yelled. "Good morning." Sophie said back, ignoring how loud the toddler was. Keefe picked up Steven, who was crying because his sister was yelling at him. Keefe was now holding Sean and Steven. Sophie walked over to him and took Sean, so far he only said a few words— he wasn't loud like the twins. "Good morning Sean." Sophie said in a high pitched voice. "Morning." The little baby said, yawning. Sophie and Keefe chuckled at that, the kid was as much of a morning person as his mom. He already had a full head of blonde hair, just like Keefe's— messy. "He looks so much like you already." Sophie said, grinning. "From the look on your face and the emotions your sending at me I think it's a good thing. Aaaaand of course I already knew it was because everyone knows my hair is amazing." Keefe said, smirking. "Sophie went downstairs and made breakfast the best she could— she wasn't very good at making Elvin food— everyone came down to the dining room to eat. "I think I'll cook tomorrow." Keefe said. "Is it really that bad?" Sophie asked, looking worried. "A little bit." Keefe said, smirking at the crease forming in Sophie's forehead. Keefe reached up to Sophie's head and smoothed the crinkle. "Foster, it's alright. Nobody can make starkflower stew like you can." Keefe said. "Calla could." Sophie said, with those two words the room seemed to darken. "Who's Calla?" Steven asked. "She was a gnome, you know that tree at grandma and pop pop's?" Sophie said. "Yeah." Steven replied after a few seconds. "We'll when gnomes die they turn into trees, but Calla sacrificed herself to become a special tree that can heal anything." Sophie said, a tear dripping down her cheek. Katlyn burst out in tears, Steven looked sad, Sean looked a little sad, and keefe came up and hugged sophie from behind. "It's okay Foster." Keefe said, shedding a few tears himself. "It's okay." Sophie repeated to herself. She wiped her face and went on with her day. The black swan wasn't sure what to do yet so they had dwarven bodyguards assigned to everyone in the organization, plus, Sophie had Sandor and Keefe had Ro. The council had a few emissaries in Loamnore but the Fosters weren't assigned anywhere. They went to Atlantis that day to buy Sean some new tunics. After that Mr. Forkle stopped by Blossomwood. "I need the twins to come with me." Mr. Forkle said. "Okay then we're going too. Where to, Forklenator?" Keefe said. "A new hideout." Mr. Forkle replied. They stopped at Havenfield first to drop off Sean then they leaped to a dark cave. "Why is it always a cave?" Sophie asked, a little annoyed. "Caves are an easy way to hide out." Mr. Forkle said, unfazed by the expression on Sophie's face. He pulled out a piece of magsidian and a bottle of light. "Oh come on! What is it with you guys and making us go through painful light leaps?!" Keefe said, looking just as annoyed as Sophie. "Because it is an easy way to hide, almost nobody leaps with unmapped starlight." Mr. Forkle said. "What kind is i- actually, let my photographic memory figure it out. It's... Marquisire." Keefe said after a minute. "It is." Mr. Forkle said, completely unimpressed. "Photographic memory for the win!" Keefe said, smirking at Sophie. "What's Marquisire?" Katlyn asked. "light from the unmapped stars, your mom accidentally bottled one for her Universe class." Keefe said, smirking. "How did she do that?" Steven asked. "Forkle here, set her up to." Keefe said. "Awesome." Katlyn said. With that they stepped into the pink and green light and it felt like glitter was pounding at them. When they came out they were in an empty field until Mr. Forkle said "Follow me." And started walking through illusions. They followed him all the way until they hit a door, Forkle licked the DNA pad and it opened. Inside were two beds that were the perfect size for the twins. "I have predicted what their other abilities will be, they will both be enhancers and will both be Mesmers." Mr.
Forkle said. "Okaaaay and why are we here exactly?" Keefe asked. "Well I don't know when they'll manifest these abilities and I'd like to help postpone it until they're in manifesting range." Mr. Forkle said. "Yeah, now that I think about it, having two little mesmers running around at five or six would not be good." Keefe said. "What are you gonna do?" Sophie asked. "Here's where it gets risky. The only way to prevent abilities or set them back is Limbium." Mr. Forkle said, frowning. "How do we know they're not allergic to it?" Keefe asked, getting serious. "We don't, that's why I have two things of antidote ready if you guys want to do this." Mr. Forkle said. "We'll do it." Sophie immediately responded. "Wooow Foster, they're my kids too and I'm not sure if I like this idea." Keefe said. "It went fine for me both times so I'm sure it will for them." Sophie snapped, she knew that if she didn't answer fast she'd think too much. "Alright, let's do it." Keefe said. They set the twins down on the beds and Mr. Forkle recommended turning around. "I'll stay just like this, I was there for Foster both times and I could handle it so I'm good now." Keefe said. "I'll turn around." Sophie said, knowing she had a sensitive stomach. Mr. Forkle explained what was happening to the twins and what he was going to do, they agreed to it and he fed them the limbium. "Oh no." Keefe said. Sophie immidiatly turned around to find both toddlers turning a shade of green. She stepped forward and Keefe put his arm around her, "It's alright Foster, this is exactly how it went with you." He looked a little too worried to be convincing though. "Right." She whispered. Her and keefe stayed there with their arms around each other until the twins turned back to a normal color and Mr. Forkle told them to take the twins home. "Let them sleep until they wake up, it should take a few days, no pain killers." Mr. Forkle said on their way out. "Okay, bye Forklenator." Keefe said. "Bye, Fosters." Mr. Forkle said with a sigh. Keefe pulled out his pathfinder and took Sophie's hand. Together, they glittered away, concentration wrapped around themselves and their kids. When they got to Blossomwood they put the twins in their beds and went to the kitchen. "You know, they're getting big for their cribs, I think we should get them real beds and different rooms." Keefe said. "I think that's a great idea, I'll have the gnomes make ones." Sophie said, smiling a little. "Great I'll go check on them now, it'll be awesome to surprise them when they wake up."
Keefe said, smirking. Sophie asked the gnomes to make them and the next day they were ready. Sophie and keefe took them upstairs and one of them in an empty room and the other in the empty nursery, the rooms were the same size. They redesigned both rooms so that they were the same but had slightly different themes and color schemes. Katlyn's new room had a white bed, soft pink curtains, a rose painted on the wall, a desk in the corner, one side of the room was completely made of windows, and her closet had a nice bead curtain covering it.
Steven's room had a white bed, soft blue curtains, a tackle bramble ball painted on the wall, a desk in the corner, one side of the room was completely made of windows, and his closet had a white curtain covering it. The rooms were next to each other so there was a bathroom in between that only they had access to through their rooms. Sophie brought them to their rooms and tucked them into their new beds. Three days later they woke up. "How long have I been sleeping?" Steven asked. "Three days." Sophie said, running over to hug him. "Wow that's a while." Steven said, smiling at his mom. "Yeah, you had us pretty worried." Keefe said, walking into the room with Katlyn. "When did you wake up?" Steven asked his sister. "Like an hour ago." Katlyn replied. "Of course, you wake up first." Steven said, rolling his eyes. "Is it me, or are they getting more and more like you everyday?" Sophie asked, looking at Keefe. "I think you might be right, but I have a test to see. Kids, who to you like more, me or your mom?" Keefe replied, smirking. "Ummmm, both." The twins said it at the same time, giving the words an Erie effect. Sophie telepathically reached out to Keefe.
Is it me, or is it really creepy when they do that.
It's not just you, it creeps me out too.
Phew, I thought I was being a bad mom, I mean, I shouldn't be freaked out by my own kids-
Foster, calm down, I think your just a little overwhelmed, come over here.
She walked over to him and he told her to turn on her enhancing. He took her hand and she tried to focus on the cooling breezes he sent into her mind. They went to the kitchen and Sophie started to make starkflower stew for lunch. "Hey, Foster." Keefe said, hugging her from behind and kissing her cheek. "What's up?" Sophie asked. "You're beautiful, and are kids look just like you." Keefe said. "Thanks Keefe." She said, adding the starkflower to the pot. Keefe went to get the kids and they all ate a pretty quiet dinner besides a few 'this is great mom' or 'thanks for making this'.
