Wei Wuxian waited patiently until Lan Xichen left and when he heard the door get closed, he walked out of the room.

"Lan Wangji." Wei Wuxian called out.

Lan Wangji turned abruptly towards him, astonished to see him there. "Wei Ying," he said after a moment of silence and surprise, "Good morning."

"Lan Wangji," Wei Wuxian began not at all bothering to greet back 'good morning' to Lan Wangji. "I hate beating around the bush. So let's come to the point."

Lan Wangji narrowed his eyes.

"What did your conversation with your brother mean? I am sorry but I happened to be awake and I heard it all."

Lan Wangji's eyes widened. He could not understand what Wei Wuxian was talking about. He was afraid which part of the conversation Wei Wuxian had heard.

"I don't get you." Lan Wangji stated, gulping the lump on his throat.

"What did your brother mean when he said that there was only a week for us to consummate our marriage?"

The worst had come and Lan Wangji did not know how he was going to get through this conversation. He knew that this would come but he wasn't prepared for it now. Not at all!

"Wei Ying, it's not..." he was cut off.

"Lan Wangji, lying is forbidden." Wei Wuxian backfired Lan Wangji with his own sect rules. He never knew that these rules would come handy some day.

Lan Wangji sighed. It seemed like that there was no way out of this and Wei Wuxian would not let go of him unless he tell him the truth.

"Wei Ying," Lan Wangji began, taking in a deep breath. "We Lan's are cursed by love. We..."

"Isn't it just a myth?" Wei Wuxian interrupted.

"No. It isn't. We Lan's fall in love only once, deeply and sincerely. Even if our feelings are not reciprocated, we still love that single person with all that we have."

"Oh, so?"

"But, unfortunately, the love of our ancestors ended horribly. They did not have a happy ending. So the elders of our clan decided that one should not fall in love prior to marriage and must consummate the marriage within a week or the marriage would prove to be inauspicious."

"Huh?" Wei Wuxian was taken aback.

"Wei Ying, there is no need for...." Lan Wangji tried to convince Wei Wuxian that there was, no need for all this.

"Lan Zhan, stop. I mean, Lan Wangji. Sorry, it was a slip of the tongue."

"You can call me Lan Zhan." Lan Wangji said, granting his husband the permission to call him by his birth name. But he was very confused why Wei Wuxian suddenly stopped calling him Lan Zhan and behaved very formally to him, all of a sudden. He knew it had something to do with this marriage.

"I don't think I deserve to call you Lan Zhan anymore." Wei Wuxian muttered, walking up to the table and taking a seat beside it.

Lan Wangji stood there, speechless, for he was confused had meant by 'not deserving'. As far as he knew, there was, no one else who deserved to call him by his birth name except Wei Wuxian but he decided that he would explain it to him later. Now, they had an even more important thing to discuss.

"Lan Wangji, isn't this ridiculous? I mean, our marriage was different. How can your brother ask us to consummate this marriage? I thought, he knows you well but it seems like, it was just so and so. He..."

"Wei Ying, brother just wanted best for both of us. We Lan's believe that consummation of marriage is a way to strengthen the relationship between spouses. And I know that you believe it too."

"Of course, I believe it. But that doesn't mean that, I.... We...." Wei Wuxian stopped. He was speechless. He did not know what he was supposed to say. He had always been talkative but right now, he just could not get whatever the words, out.

Lan Wangji waited patiently. He knew this was hard to Wei Wuxian to accept it all at once. In fact, he too could not accept it. Lan Wangji knew that some parts of his heart, liked Wei Wuxian romantically, but still, this was just too much!

"Lan Wangji," Wei Wuxian said at last, after what felt like an eternity. "I am sorry to tell you this but... I would never disregard your honor."

Lan Wangji smiled. He had not expected aby less from his Wei Ying, who was too pure in heart. He was glad that he was lucky enough to marry him.

"Why are you smiling?" Wei Wuxian asked, puzzled, looking up from his seat.

Lan Wangji just walked up to him, his smile still fixed in place. He took a seat in front of Wei Wuxian and held his hand, looking at Wei Wuxian as if he was asking the permission to touch him. Wei Wuxian was confused but he did not pull away his hand so Lan Wangji took that as a yes and held his hand, taking it in his.

Wei Wuxian looked down at their clasped hands and then up at Lan Wangji who was still smiling. He was very confused.

"Wei Ying, thank you." Lan Wangji said.

"For what?" Wei Wuxian asked, muddled.

"For accepting to marry me. I would have, never been happier with anyone else." Lan Wangji confessed.

"Lan Wangji, what are you talking?! We have been married just for a night!" Wei Wuxian exclaimed.

"We have been married jars for a night. But ever since I met you on while you were sneaking in, my heart had begun to beat in a way that it had never beat before. You made me feel something that I had never felt before. Wei Ying, you had made me happy in a way that not one had made me happier before. Wei Ying, I..." Lan Wangji tried to breath. His heart was beating faster than ever now that he was confessing his feelings.

"Wei Ying, I... I actually like this marriage. I... I like... I like you..."

Wei Wuxian's heart stopped and his breath hitched. He looked at Lan Wangji sharply and it did not seem like he was lying. Which meant that, Lan Wangji...

Wei Wuxian's heart trembled in him. He could hear his own heart beat! Because...

Lan Wangji loved him!
