"Wow. I haven't been here in a long time." I say as my sandshoes seep a little into the grass beneath my feet. I see Oliver's face drop.
"Oh, shit. I didn't even-" I put a hand up to stop him.
"It's okay. That whole incident when we were kids happened a long time ago. I'm not afraid of vampires anymore and it's nice to have a new memory with you walking through this park together instead of you biting and scaring the shit out of me." I giggle. He grabs my hand and looks down at me. There's a hunger in his eyes but it's not for blood.
"Well, since you're in interest of replacing memories." Even though the moon isn't providing us much light, I didn't need to see what was happening. I feel the tug from his hand pull me into him, his other hand wrapping around my neck pulling me into him until our lips lock in passion. Even though he doesn't usually eat it, I can taste the saltiness from our dinner on his lips. Licking them, he grabs onto my thighs down lower and I feel myself lift off the ground. Wrapping my legs around his waist, my back slams into a nearby tree, but it doesn't hurt – Oliver has never put me in pain.
He pushes his chest against me, keeping me in place as his hands trail up my shirt, caressing and pinching my nipples through my bra in a way he knows I enjoy. I've never done this out in the open before, but I doubt many people would be walking through an unlit forest at this time of night. He breaks apart from my lips to place his on my neck, sucking hard. After a moment he starts to nibble at my skin. He knows he has my permission for when he is in need, he doesn't have to ask, but in the second he stops I know what he wants – and I want it too. I want to feel that sting in my neck. With my hand on the back of his head I push him back into my neck, the permission he needed; granted. I feel his lips part wide as he bites down, his fangs piercing my skin. The pull and heat from the wound burns through my body, the motion sending a sensation of pleasure throughout my body and the pain between my thighs aches for him to do more. He pulls away and licks my neck, his saliva making the wound heal and disappear without trace, he takes me off the tree, and gently lies me on the grass beneath us. The cold stiffens me for a moment but as he comes down my chest, lifting up my shirt and kisses my stomach, the heat overwhelms me again. As he starts to unbutton my jeans I hear the faint sound of screaming.
In the dark I feel Oliver shift up so he's sitting over me, and he questions, "Too much to ask if that was you screaming in pleasure?" I shake my head, knowing he can see me perfectly well in the dark. I lean my head back in the direction I heard the scream and see something flickering in the distance, a bit like fire. Oliver stands up quickly, pulling me up by my hands. He exhales deeply and grabs onto my hand to guide me through the trees at a faster pace. Something tells me he is a little disappointed by the disruption.
After a minute we come to a small clearing, which has a single light pole in the middle, but it does little to help me see. Concentrating on Oliver and the connection I've built with him, I strain my eyes to try and see. Using the same powers as my demons is one of the perks of owning them, but it's hard to learn. There's something moving towards us.
"Get behind me." Oliver hushes, stepping in front of me. I do as he asks as the figure starts to become clear – it's a girl. Running as fast as I can, I see her suddenly launch into the air – flung to the left and topples into the ground grunting. I don't even see Oliver move, dashing forward past the light he collides and pushes something else to the right away from the girl. Closer now to the light I see it growling back at him. It looked a bit like a dog but its back is aligned with spikes protruding, its back legs so long that its back extends upwards as it bares jagged rows of teeth at Oliver. That's when he hisses at the creature. Baring his vampire fangs back at it. The girl leaps back to her feet and looks around, grabbing from the grass beneath her something silver – a dagger, and throws it towards the creature. Narrowly, it dodges, and the dagger becomes fixed into the tree.
"Damn it!" She exclaims. I walk closer to the light pillar, making myself known to her.
"Are you alright?" I query. She begins taking steps toward the tree where her dagger has wedged itself deep into the bark.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Refusing to take her eyes off Oliver, she pulls on the dagger attempting to dislodge it. I walk over to see if I can ask further about the situation. "Are you one too?" She questions, looking at me, giving up on the dagger and standing her ground toward me.
"A what?"
"A vampire." Oliver answers. "That's why she's looking at me like she's got salt in her eyes."
She scoffs, "Yeah well, as you may imagine I have my reasons."
"I am not accustomed to the same things as others you would know and have met, I assure you."
I hold up my hands in frustration, "Wait, what's going on, what don't I know?" Oliver steps forward next to the red headed girl and pulls the dagger from the tree without issue.
"Vampires have used witch blood for years to maintain their powers. Without magical blood, our powers dwindle to nothing. This one just doesn't know I'm a day-walker." He holds out the knife to her and hesitantly she takes it back.
"So, you're an out-cast of your own kind? That must be fun."
"Only with the right Fallen." I smirk, looking over at me. I walk over to them both, dumbfounded already.
"What was that thing?" I query.
"A Chupacabra." The girl says.
"Witch Rites?" Oliver asks, and she nods.
"Yeah, my task was to gather a soul of a Chupacabra, but I am struggling. They're quite fast and sometimes bite back. I didn't think it would take me so long – even the hotel isn't holding my stuff anymore. Do you happen to know any cheap motels nearby?"
"A motel? You don't live here?"
"No, I'm from Salem." Oliver laughs out loud upon hearing that.
"Wait, you're a witch and you live in Salem?"
"The wolves and witches have had a truce for the last few years. Unlike witches and vampires, I might add." He just shrugs in response. "Anyway, I was meant to finish this two days ago but it's just so fast that I have been out here since trying and the hotel I was staying at said I had to go cause my room was booked after I was due to check out."
"Stay with us." I suggest. Oliver gives me a curious look; I suppose not expecting me to say that. "We have a large house, lot of spare rooms. You can stay there till you've caught that thing. Besides, looks like you cut your hand pretty bad, one of us could help bandage you up." The girl blinks a few times and ponders.
"So, you live nearby this park?"
"We do."
"You don't even know me."
"I was on the street once where people didn't know me, they offered me somewhere to stay and it turned out to be the best thing that could have ever happened to me." She smiles and holds out her hand.
"Well, it's not like Ican't just set you all on fire if you try anything. I'm Jasmine Heart, nice tomeet you."
