Leave It All Behind

"Bye!" Iris yelled to me as she turned the corner onto her road.

"See ya!" Iris and I always walked home together from school. We would walk together and then she'd turn onto her road and I'd continue to mine. At least that's always how it was. It's not going to be like this anymore after tomorrow.

I don't know how to tell her. It's the hardest thing to tell your best friend since kindergarten, that you're moving to another state in two days. I've known about it for a while, but just never had the courage to tell her. I guess I'm just kind of lost in it all, you know?

I know I have to tell Iris it all soon, but I don't know how she'll take it. I hope she understands.

Would she still be my best friend?

I don't even know how I'll take it. I know it's not going to actually hit me until tomorrow. When I actually have to leave it all behind.
