"So this bag is for my summer clothes and this bin is for my winter clothes." I told Iris for the millionth time.

"Okay. win..cloz...sum..cl.." She mumbled to herself, pulling God knows what out of my drawers.

I had packed everything but my clothes, accessories, and a few knick knacks and whatnot. "Hmm." I peeled tape off the wall along with a faded picture. "I remember this!" I poked Iris in the arm, knocking her out of the clothing trance.

"Oh yeah! That was first grade field day!" She exclaimed.

It was a little while after the memories came flooding back that I realized Iris was staring at me. I looked around to try and break the awkwardness.

Iris's POV:

I stared at Cassie for a little longer before bursting with laughter. We always had these laughter filled moments. I guess that's just something else I'm going to regret having to miss.

"Put on some music." Cassie said.

"Oh yeah!" She reminded me. "I'll put it on shuffle so we can listen to everything out of order!" I commented.

Cassie's POV:

She knew me well. I didn't like to listen to the same person over and over again.

We continued cleaning up and packing. I noticed Iris was looking through a bunch of papers and a single tear fell on to the top sheet.

I was about to ask her what was wrong when I heard it too.

~I'm leaving, on a jet plane. Don't know when I'll be back again...~

The music became only a muffled hum in my head as I thought back to all the things Iris and I had done together.

The first day of kindergarten when we met. We both came home and told our parents of each other.

The one summer Iris's brother was really sick and she came and stayed with me for three months.

All the forts we made out of blankets and ductape. and getting yelled at afterwords because it had taken paint off the wall.

The time at the beach when we sang the day away.

Discovering that we both had the same favorite things.

The day we knew god made us best friends because he couldn't handle us as sisters.

"Cassieee!!!" I snapped back into reality.

"Yeah Mom?"

"Iris's mom called, she has to go home." I checked my phone. Wow 8:00 already!

We stood in what was probably the longest hug ever.

"Forever and always." We both said at the same time.

I smiled, matching Iris's smile.

"Bye."

"I'll definitely stop by tomorrow morning!"

"I'll be here."

Iris raced down the stairs and out the door. I sat at my window, watching her swiftly leave my driveway. I could see her turn onto her road from my window. She waved from a distance, knowing I was waving, too.
