Chapter 5: Longing
"Hey. S-stop that, Nathan. He's my dad" Arabel worriedly asked me. She steps in front of her dad protecting him.
"You're scaring me!" She added and a scared expression was plastered in her face.
"Calm down Kid" Tener put his hand in front of him ready to defend. "I think you're misunderstanding something"
I didn't let my guard down as I readied myself.
Attack! Defend!
"What are you doing, Nathan?" Robin asked in a serious tone.
"Can't you f-feel it? That man is d-different. There is something weird – about him! I-I can't stand it" I gasped for air because I felt like I was suffocating. My head is getting dizzy.
*WARNING: ENERGY LEVEL IS AT 10%
Why is my energy being depleted?
I focused on myself and realized that I have been shaking uncontrollably. My energy has been leaking outside my body. Is that why Arabel is looking at me like that?
I fell on my knee when I felt something pushed me down.
"Stop it, Dad! He's already – He's just scared!" I heared Arabel shout.
Elder Mang stepped up between us. She looked at me calmly and spoke.
"He's not an enemy. Calm yourself and control your energy."
She walks towards me slowly and leans herself to me. She touched my head and I felt a warm feeling embrace me as her crystal emits silver light. The feeling of anxiousness and panic slowly leaves my body. Though I can still feel that ominous energy, my body didn't react as it did earlier.
Elder Mang helped me stand up because I feel like my body is going to give up. I took a peek at my information and saw that my energy is down to only 5.
Shit. Seems like I overdid it.
We all went inside the house and here I am sitting in front of them like nothing happened earlier.
"Mind explaining yourself" Elder Mang said as she handed me a drink that will apparently help me recover my energy. I drank it and felt nothing. Should it supposedly do something?
I pointed at Arabel's father.
"You" I blatantly said. I heard Robin's father laugh but he immediately stops when his wife looks at him.
All eyes were shifted to Arabel's father.
"Hey Pedro. Say something." Tener nudged at him. I heard him sigh.
"I guess this thing is the one you're talking about" his rough voice makes it seem like he was tired and enduring something. He stands up and lifts up his shirt.
I almost gasped when I saw the wound in the side of his stomach. It looks like it was pierced with something and the skin surrounding the wounds are almost black. While the wound itself looks like it was rotting. Some kind of black smoke like light is oozing from it. Though you wouldn't be able to see it if you don't really look carefully. Besides, it's only a little.
"What is that?!" Arabel looked like she was going to faint. She held her staff up and acted like she was going to use it.
"It's okay. Normal healing doesn't work on it" He said and sat down again.
"It got worse? That was not like that when we left Lumiere" Maria said with a worried tone.
Arabel was trying hard not to cry while tightly holding her staff.
