Chapter 8: The Forest

Inside the forest is quite chilly as we continue to walk deeper. I can still hear some sound from the insects and birds. It somewhat made me relieved knowing that animals still live here at this part which means that we are still quite safe.

We continue walking as the edge of the forest disappears in my sight.

Looking around the forest made me realize how tall and large the trees are. Maybe it would need two to three people to completely hug one tree here. It would be impossible to cut this tree with normal means and with only one person seeing how sturdy they stand.

Though I wouldn't have a problem cutting this kind of tree using my ability.

I saw some animals running around such as deer, wolves and bunnies however, they wouldn't dare to approach us seeing how Tener and Pedro are emitting such a serious and heavy aura. It's like they are ready to engage in combat anytime. Though I know the sighting of animals relieved all of us because it means that we are still in the safe zone of the forest.

In the front is Tener with his crystal slightly glowing and me following in his back. I can somehow feel that he is sending little energy in the ground whenever he steps.

Elder Mang is beside me holding what seems to be a staff. It's like a branch of an old tree with a water attribute crystal embedded on the end. Greenish and bluish glowing veins are also visible on the body of her staff.

I looked back and saw Maria's group and beside them was Pedro's group. They are divided into two, positioned on both sides and making sure that the whole group is safe. Our eyes meet but he just stares at me deeply and continues to scan the surroundings.

The atmosphere continues to become heavy and dark as we travel further. The silence also became noticeable and there's no animals on sight which means that we are nearing the danger zone.

Will we encounter some monsters?

I shook my head and wished that we would not. Not everyone here can fight, especially that some of the porters here are normal humans. We couldn't afford to let all the mediums and invokers come with us because no one will be able to protect the village when an attack happens.

Though some part of me wishes to fight to know how strong I got after sparring numerous times with Pedro and Tener. While training, I learned that I could increase my level through fighting and sparring with someone stronger than me. I tapped my crystal to check my status once more.

I'm already at level 20 and my Life Force and Status have considerably improved since I arrived here. But I still need to be careful even though my life force now is at 2200. Who knows what would happen if it hits zero? All I know is it would be bad if I'm not dead.
