You were sitting under a bridge with your skateboard chewing on a candy cigarette. It was almost midnight, but you didn't feel like going home. You were waiting for your friends to emerge from the sewers. Your friends were these human sized ninja turtles that were brothers. Weird kind of friends to have, but they welcomed you when nobody else did.

You were a bit childish, which is why mostly nobody would hang out with you. You were fine chilling out solo, but it's taking a bit of time for you to realize that you actually have friends. One of these friends you had a huge crush on, but you didn't know how to tell him. You bit down on the candy cigarette, chewing it up and swallowing it just to replace it with another. You couldn't help but think.

The oldest brother of the group, Leo, dating you? You couldn't bring yourself to tell him. You just knew that you weren't his interest. Sweatpants, hoodie, and a backwards hat? Yeah, that's what a ninja wants. A childish tomboy girl who has no friends.

You huffed and chuckled at the thought in your head.

"What's funny, dudette?" Mikey asked as the turtles walked up to you.

"Hm?" You turned your head towards them, "just a funny thought."

"(Y/n), that's not a cig is it?" Raph grabbed the candy from your mouth.

"A candy cig." You chuckled as you placed a new one in your mouth, "you know I don't smoke."

"Candy???" Mikey grabbed it from Raph's hand and stuffed it in his mouth, chewing it up, then spitting it out, "BLEH! That was gross!"

You chuckled while standing up with your skateboard in your right arm, "not every type of candy is sweet, Mikey. Even salt is mistaken as sugar."

"Guys." Donnie spoke, "I hear Kraaang."

"Then we better get going." Leo replied.

The 3 younger brother left and as Leo was following them, you called him.

"Leo?" You spoke.

He turned around, "yeah?"

"I lov-" You paused in fear, what were you doing? Trying to embarrass yourself? You sighed, "be safe."

Before he could say anything to you, you rode your skateboard back home. You walked in your room, throwing the skateboard at the wall and sighing in frustration.

"What was I thinking?" You panicked, "I almost completely embarrassed myself! He could never love me!"

You looked at yourself in the mirror, seeing how "boyish" you looked. You wore the same style everyday. The guys had never seen you in anything other than sweats, a hoodie, and a hat.

You sighed, "he deserves someone better."

You changed into your pajamas which looked like this:

You put your hair up in a bun and washed your face. You walked out of the bathroom, heading to your bed until you looked at the window, seeing Leo hallway in your room.

"Leo, what the hell?" You turned around.

"What?" He asked, "I just wanted to stop by after patrol."

"Where are the guys?" You asked, still not facing him.

"They went ahead home." He answered as he stepped into your room, "why are you not facing me? I'm not that ugly am I?"

"What? No." You turned around and looked at him.

He blushed a bright pink, "whoa, I've never seen you without your hat."

"You don't expect me to wear it to bed, do you?" You asked.

"No." He replied.

"What are you doing here?" You asked as you walked passed him to put your day clothes in the laundry bin.

"I just wanted to check on you." He answered, "you seemed a little upset when I left for patrol."

"Oh, that was nothing." You lied, "I just care about your safety is all. Because you know, the kraaang are dangerous."

"I don't believe you." He said.

You snapped towards him, "how? It's true."

"You've never told me be safe before going on patrol." He pointed out, "you seemed like you were fighting and holding back from saying something."

"Yeah, to remind you about not being a dumbass." You snarled.

"The only dumbass in the group is Mikey." Leo said, "did you forget that I was the leader?"

"Leaders can get hurt, Leo." You replied as you sat on your bed.

"You wanted to tell me something before patrol." He sat next to you, "you can tell me."

"It's so stupid." You laughed.

"Hey, nothing you say will be stupid." He assured you.

"It won't work." You mumbled.

"What won't work?" He asked.

"I sorta-well-like-no-you-UGH!" You stood up, "it doesn't matter!"

"Just spit it out (y/n)!"

"I LOVE YOU OKAY?" You yelled.

Leo sat there in complete shock.

You huffed and crossed your arms, "but I know I'm not the one for you. I'm a childish tomboy with no friends. Hell, I don't even know any ninja moves. The only thing I can do is skateboard. The guys would laugh at us too. You deserve someone who wants to dress girly. . .who wants to do cute lovey-dovey things. . .but that's not me. So I'm just pushing the feeling away and ignoring it. Because dating me would be a joke."

You stared at the ground, feeling your tears burning your eyes. But you'd be damned to cry in front of Leo. He stood up and walked to you, cupping your face and lifting your head up to lock eyes with him.

"(Y/n). . ." He wiped a small tear that escaped your eye, "the way you dress, act, or your popularity level does not matter to me. You are perfect just the way you are. You are perfect to me. You are the most adorable girl I've ever met. Being with you wouldn't be a joke; it would be a dream come true. As long as we communicate, we won't need to overachieve about how much we love each other or do lovey-dovey things. (Y/n). . .you are the one for me. I love you."

Before you could respond, he pulled you into a passionate kiss. Your heart was setting off fireworks and also beating very fast with adrenaline. He pulled away from the kiss and locked eyes with you.

"Please don't ever talk down about yourself." He spoke, "you are perfect just the way you are and I wouldn't change a thing about you. I love you."

You softly smiled, "I love you too."
