my heart skipped a beat when i saw the piece of paper fluttering on the window sill. i sucked in my breath. the sun had set, the sky was now clouding between red and a pitch black.
i ducked out from behind a bush and sprinted towards his window. i grabbed the note and ran back.
my eyes frantically scanned the words.

i stared. the words echoed in my ears.
and then i smiled. a small smile that played on my lips, but it was a smile.
i took a fresh piece of crisp white paper and wrote another note on it. i left it in the same place.
