I knock on the door and fight the urge to barge right on into the apartment. My anger diminishes a bit when Serena answers the door instead of the man I’m looking for. She smiles and lets me in. Scout stands when he sees me. Serena walks off to the bedroom.

“What the hell is this I hear about Adam staying with me or Blair for the next two weeks?”

“He has a fight in two weeks and most of that time will be spent in the gym with me. I obviously can’t trust him to stay out of trouble on his own. So until that fight happens he will be with one of us at all times!”

Scout doesn’t say this to me like it's a discussion. It is a fact that is not negotiable. This makes my temper sky rocket.

“And he agreed to this?”

“He didn’t really have a choice.”

“And why is he supposed to stay with me or Blair? Last I checked they weren’t seeing each other anymore and the guy literally hates me to death. Why doesn’t he stay here with you if you are so worried about him?” At this point I am shouting and I don’t care.

“That is out of the question!”

“Why the fuck is that?!” Our voices only getting louder.

“Because Serena is pregnant!” He shouts back.

Silence.

“What?”

“We were waiting to tell you guys.”

I think back over the past few weeks, months the only thing different about Serena was she missed a couple defense classes. I think about how they haven’t been going out with us. I try to think about the last time I have seen either one of them have a drink. It makes more sense. The way he blew up when Max showed up and why he is going over the top about all of this fight stuff. He is worried about her safety…and the baby's. Wow that sounds crazy.

“I’ll do whatever you need me to do and Congrats.”

I step up and give him a hug.

“You may regret that.”

The look on his face makes my stomach turn.

“What?”

“Blair said he can stay with her during the week, but he will have to stay with you over the weekend.”

“But I…”

“I know. Take him with you…I have no other options.”

Guilt. He played it all well. I sigh and instantly know I will regret this.

I finish putting my bags in the back of my car and shut the door. I look at the time and start to feel irritated. Adam should have been here by now. As I check to make sure I have everything a cab pulls up. Adam climbs out.

[Just put your things in the back.] I gesture to my car.

He looks at the car and then me, confused.

[We are leaving now. So get in.]

[I’d rather stay in for the night.]

He is his usual annoyed self but I don’t care. I am not happy about this situation anymore than he is. I’m leaving and he has to stay with me, that’s all there is to it. I get into the car and wait for him to follow. He finally tosses his bag in the back and gets in. Good, I really didn’t want to fight him and force him in the damn car. It’s late and we still have a drive ahead of us. It doesn’t surprise me that as soon as we leave the city he asks where we are going.
