"How is she?" Jay asked after the shock had worn off a bit. "She passed out but I guess the wound seems to be healing" Adam said, feeling guilty as hell. "I texted Will and Connor to come check her over. You know she can't be away from you now because of the bond. Does she live in Chicago?" "She's here visiting Sylvie for a couple of weeks." "Sylvie's going to kill you" "thanks Jay, way to make me feel better" "I'm not trying to make you feel better Adam. You might have ruined our chances with our mate by forcing her to stay here because of the bond." "I know I fucked up, all right? I didn't mean to. It just happened. If I could I would take it back." Jay sighed before saying "I know, man. I'm sorry. I'm almost at your place. Tell me about her?" Adam had heard him rushing around in the background and knew Jay would be there shortly. "She's perfect, Jay. She's beautiful, kind, smart. She's everything but more." Adam breathed, already head over heels in love with the woman in his bed. "I'm just scared that I screwed everything up." he added. "I'm parking my car now. Will and Connor confirmed they would be there shortly. They are coming straight to your place from med. We should call Kelly and Matt as well to let them know." "Come on man. You know Kelly will kill me" "just open the door. We'll figure something out but the longer we wait the angrier he will be"

Looking one more time at his sleeping mate who he had covered up he rushed to the front door to let Jay in. Will and Connor had also just arrived along with what seemed to be Matt and a very angry Kelly. "We ran into them when Jay texted." Will explained, making Adam gulp and look at Jay for help. "I didn't know, man" Jay told him, raising his hands. "Adam. A word?" Kelly angrily asked, making Adam open the door for the others to check on their mate before walking off with Kelly. "What were you thinking?! She won't be able to leave and she'll be freaked out. I thought we talked about this. When we found our mate we would take it easy seeing as there are a lot of things she'll have to get used to." "I know man. I'm sorry. I really didn't-" "Adam! We need you inside, now!" Jay called in panic. Adam could feel the panic but it wasn't coming from Jay. It was coming from Valerie.

"Get away from me!" Valerie screamed, trying to put as much distance between herself, Will and Connor. "Calm down sweetheart. We just want to check if you're okay" Will gently spoke, hands up to show her he meant no harm. "Get away" Valerie cried, making all of their hearts break. This was what Adam heard when he walked in so he rushed towards his panicking mate. "Val, hey Val, calm down babe, I'm here" Adam said, trying to calm his mate down and slowly inching closer and closer to her. "Who are they, Adam?" Valerie asked, allowing Adam to pull her in his arms to calm her even more.

For some reason his presence and touch calmed Valerie immediately. "This is Will and that's Connor. I asked them to come over and check on you because you passed out." "Why weren't you here? They scared me" "He was grabbing us some medical supplies. We didn't mean to scare you" Connor explained. Lying to his mate felt wrong but it was better than telling her the truth right now. "Why don't I stay here with you while they check you over." Adam offered, making Valerie slightly nod while still tightly holding onto him.

"Okay sweetheart, can you look at my finger?" Will asked, moving his finger around while shining a light in her eyes. "And now follow the light" he instructed her "great. Now Connor is going to listen to your heartbeat and your lungs, alright?" Will explained, making Valerie look up to Adam for reassurance and nodding towards Will when Adam had sent her a smile and a slight nod before pressing a kiss on top of her head. "Sounds good" Connor said after listening carefully. "Now let's check your neck" "why do you need to check my neck?" Valerie asked, confused. "You have a bite mark there and we need to make sure that it's healing correctly." Will explained making Valerie look at him in confusion before saying "I don't have a bite mark. What would have bitten me?" Her confusion however didn't last long because she suddenly remembered Adam biting her during their climax. "You bit me" she softly said, pulling away from Adam. "Babe" "you bit me. Why would you bite me? What the hell is going on here?" "Valerie, honey, I need you to calm down." Connor tried reasoning with her. "You are not freaked out by this. How are you not freaked out by this? He bit me! But- oh my god- you- you do this to other people as well? These are your go to doctors?" Valerie accused, freaking out. All Adam however could hear was that his mate thought that he would mark other people and he couldn't have that. "I would never mark anyone other than you Val. You got to believe me." But that was not the good thing to say.

"I need to get out of here." "Valerie, calm down" Connor tried again, softly trying to grab her arm. "Get away from me! You're all crazy!" She screamed, ripping her arm away from Connor's soft grip. "Valerie, please" Will tried. "Babe, please, I don't want you to get hurt. Please stay here." "Are you threatening me?" Valerie asked, getting even more scared. "No no no no, of course not. I would never" Adam quickly said, realizing his mistake. "Can you please let me explain?" Adam asked, looking directly into her eyes which activated the bond again. "I'm going to scream if you don't let me go right now."
