When Valerie woke up, she felt as if she was hit by a bus. Seeing the blinding lights above her, she quickly put her hand up to cover her eyes. "Val?" Turning towards the voice, she saw it was her little sister, Sylvie. "Syl?" "Yeah, how are you feeling?" "I feel as if I was hit by a bus" "here" Sylvie said, offering her sister a glass of water and some painkillers. "What happened last night?" Valerie asked her sister, not knowing if she dreamt it or if it actually happened. "A couple of things happened" Sylvie mysteriously said, making Valerie turn towards her sister with a look that said "seriously?" "Well thanks, captain obvious. But I asked what exactly happened." "It's not my place to tell you. I have to work in a few hours, when I get back we'll get you your answers together, alright?" "Why can't you just give them now?" "Like I said, it's not my place to tell you. Just trust me on this okay?" "As frustrating as it is, fine." "Thanks, sis. I do think you need to be checked out for now. Are you alright with me calling my friend Nat? She's a doctor at Chicago Med and she lives close by. Just to make sure you're alright." "Can't you check me out yourself?" "She knows better what to look out for" Sylvie explained, again being vague.

While Valerie was out, Sylvie and the guys had discussed it would be best to take her back to Sylvie's apartment so she wouldn't freak out again. It was difficult for them to let her go, but with the condition that Natalie Manning, a respected member of their pack, would check over Valerie, they hesitantly agreed. Sylvie was of course a paramedic, but Nat was way more familiar with mating marks and such and seeing as Sylvie had only seen hers up close she wouldn't be able to say much about the state of it. Of course Will and Connor would be the better option in normal situations, but Valerie would most likely freak out if they got near her again without the explanation she would get.

"Fine" Valerie sighed, still confused and frustrated about the vague answers her sister gave her. "I'll be right back" Sylvie said, walking off to call Natalie. Natalie was already informed by Will and Connor about the situation and stood standby awaiting Sylvie's call. "I'll be there in 5" she told the blonde, making Sylvie sigh and answer with a "great, see you then"

"How are you holding up?" Antonio asked from the couch he was sitting at. "I hate keeping things from her." Sylvie quietly admitted, making sure Valerie wouldn't be able to hear her. "I know, but this is the best course of action. They will be able to explain everything better and we'll be there for moral support." "But what if she hates me after this?" "From what you've told me, I don't think she could hate you. She might be upset for a bit but I'm sure she'll understand eventually." Antonio said, trying to reassure her. "I love you" "I love you too".

Their moment was however interrupted when Valerie walked out of the room "Val? What are you doing out of bed?" Sylvie asked, making her respond with "Syl, I'm not feeling well" while looking extremely pale and sweaty and holding the wall for balance before collapsing. "Val!" Sylvie yelled, rushing towards her sister with Antonio right behind her. He quickly caught Val before she could hit her head but it was clear that the woman was not okay. "Call 911!" Antonio told Sylvie.

Sylvie was scared out of her mind. She had called Natalie after calling 911. The brunette doctor told her she was almost there and already heard the sirens.

"28 year old female. WM, passed out, high fever, low blood pressure." Natalie called out when they rushed into the ER. "Room 2, dr. Choi I need you!" Maggie yelled. "Get me dr. Rhodes and dr. Halstead. She's theirs" Nat told Maggie and Ethan the last part softly, making Maggie gasp before ordering April to page Will and Connor. "On my count" Ethan told the others in the room "1, 2, 3" they quickly lifted Valerie of the gurney and onto the hospital bed. "I need an IV and someone get me Rhodes and Halstead, now!" Ethan ordered, making April rush to where she had last seen Connor and Will. Finding them looking at a scan from one of their patients. "Dr. Rhodes, dr. Halstead" "what is it April? We're trying to-" "it's your mate. She was just-" "where is she?" Connor asked, interrupting April "room 2" April said, making way for the two doctors.

"Nat, what happened?" Will asked as soon as they got to the right room. "She passed out. The mating mark looks fine, just incomplete because only Adam marked her. How long has it been since she's been near any of you?" "About 8 hours?" Connor answered, trying to count the hours in his head. "That means the bond must be extremely strong. Her body is having trouble with her being away from you. She'll need to be close to at least one of you at all times until her body is used to the bonds." Ethan said, making Natalie agree. "But she doesn't want to see us." Will said, sadly. "She has no choice" Ethan said, making Connor and Will understand what he meant.

Will called Jay, Adam, Kelly and Matt to inform them about their mate being in the hospital while Connor was sitting next to her, holding her hand and softly stroking her knuckles. "They're on their way. How is she?" Will asked when he got back to her room. "Her fever is dropping and April set up an IV full of fluids to help her"

"Code blue!" "Shit. We'll be right back, sweetheart" Connor said, pressing a kiss on her forehead before rushing off after Will towards the code blue. After getting the patient stable, Will and Connor were walking back towards Valerie's room when they ran into the rest of the guys. "Maggie said she was in room 2 but we can't find her." Matt explained as to why they were in the hallway instead of with Valerie. "But she should be in room 2" Will said, confused before stopping April "April, did anyone move Valerie towards another room?" "No, she's still here" April said, walking towards room 2 before seeing that the bed was empty and there was blood from the ripping of the IV.
