Chicago wolves

Chapter 7

Valerie had told Jay she would appreciate the company so he went out to get Kelly and Matt before leaving towards the district with Adam. Meanwhile Connor and Will had to continue their rounds to they bid Valerie goodbye. 

Seeing Val reading a magazine, Kelly decided to knock on the glass so he wouldn't startle her. Looking up, Valerie saw Kelly standing there awkwardly with his hands in his pockets. "Matt's gone to get us some coffee. He'll be here soon" "Alright" Valerie said, looking at him and feeling awkward. She didn't know him. She had only saw him shortly that night and she had to beg him for help. "Can I ask you a question?" Valerie softly asked him, making Kelly scoot forward and take a seat next to her bed. "Of course, you can ask me anything" he told her, making her shoot him a small smile before asking "What is a mate?" making Kelly's smile falter for a split second, not knowing how to respond to that. "How- uh- where did you hear that?" He asked her. "That guy kept talking about how I was your mate and Jay's, Matt's, Adam's, Connor's and Will's and that's why he had me beg for your help and I've been trying to wrap my brain around it but I don't get what he means. At least, I thought he meant you" "He meant me, yeah" Kelly said, not wanting any misunderstanding about that. He was the Kelly that Trenton was talking about. "What did he mean by that?" Valerie asked again, softly. "I really want to tell you, sweetheart but I don't think that you're ready for that" Kelly said, struggling to keep the secret. "What's that supposed to mean?" she asked frustrated, before continuing "Ever since that night no one will tell me what the hell is going on. Sylvie won't tell me, you guys won't tell me. I feel like I'm losing my mind and everyone knows something crucial that I don't" "I'm sorry sweetheart, we never meant for you to feel like that. We just- I'll be right back" Kelly said, quickly walking out of the room, running into Matt and pulling him towards Connor and Will. 

"We need to tell her" he said when the four of them were in a private room. "We agreed to wait a while, what changed?" Connor asked, making Kelly say "She feels like she's losing her mind. We can't do that to her" "You know that there's a bigger chance she'll accept us if we wait and bond a bit more before dropping that bomb on her?" Will asked "I know- but I'm afraid we won't get that chance if we don't tell her soon." Kelly said, making the other three look deep in thought before Antonio rushed into the room "Sylvie's going to tell her".

Rushing towards the room Valerie was in, they hoped they beat Sylvie there, but unfortunately that was not the case. Antonio came as soon as he heard his mate's plans in his head. Sometimes when a human mate has a fixed thought, it will come through to the wolf mate. That is how Antonio figured out that Sylvie was going to tell her sister. None of the guys were picking up their phones and neither was Sylvie, so as soon as Antonio saw the four of them he rushed towards them in the hope he was still on time. Which he wasn't. "We can't barge in there" Matt said, stating what the four of them already knew. "I'm sorry guys" Antonio said, excusing his mate's behavior. "I thought she agreed with the scheduled way to tell her, but apparently I was wrong". "It's not your fault man and I can't blame Sylvie either. I'd hate it to have to lie to Jay about this" Will spoke. "Let's just wait here and hope she'll understand".

Sylvie was carefully explaining everything she knew about wolves and mates to Valerie who was having difficulty following her sister sometime. "So you're saying that Adam bit me to mark me and that I am his mate and the mate of five other guys and I can't leave Chicago". "You can't leave their side. You need to be with at least one of them at all times." "but they're not here right now" "no, but they're close enough for your body to feel the effects". "You have to be shitting me, right?" "This is 100% the truth, I swear" Sylvie told her sister, understanding why it was so hard to believe. "When Antonio told me everything I freaked out and locked myself inside to avoid him. Then Gabby, his sister, came to talk to me and explain everything a bit better and I gave him a chance. Now look at us." "Yeah, Syl, I'm happy for you and all but that was one guy. We are talking about six guys. Plus, you were already living here. My life is in Indiana. What will mom think?" "So you do believe me?" "I guess I do, because my body is somehow craving Adam's touch and I only slept with the guy one time" "That's the mate bond, sis. You know, I think I'm going to tell him that. I'll bet you he'll be here within five minutes." "yeah, sure. I heard Jay talking, they are at least 15 minutes away from here." "Then you won't have to be afraid to take the bet" "fine" Valerie said, rolling her eyes. "Okay as soon as I tell him, you have to start the timer. "Hey Adam, it's Sylvie. I'm at the hospital with Valerie and I just explained everything to her." Valerie heard Adam panicking on the other end of the line "calm down, she just told me she is craving your touch. Adam? Hello? He hung up on me" Sylvie laughed, making Valerie laugh with her. 

The five waiting guys suddenly saw Adam rushing towards Valerie's room with Jay hot on his heels. "What's he doing?" Antonio asked the other guys, making them all shrug before they followed the two. "3 minutes and 23 seconds, pay up" Sylvie said, making Valerie burst out laughing. "What's she talking about, babe?" Adam asked, gravitating towards Valerie's side and taking a hold of her hand. "Weren't you 15 minutes away from here?" Valerie asked him, leaning towards his shoulder. "We were, but when Sylvie called we were already on our way here". "hmm" Valerie hummed, looking up at Adam and seeing Jay and the other guys standing a little outside of her room. 

"Syl, could you give us the room please?" "Of course, good luck" Sylvie said, kissing her sister's cheek before Valerie thanked her for telling her everything. Sylvie smiled in return before smugly walking away from the group, hoping that she helped them.
