DAWN DRAKOS
Seattle, Washington
. . .

Of all the ways I'd pictured my Thursday afternoon going, losing a game of golf at the country club to Aslyn wasn't one of them.

"Another round?" I strove for politeness but my competitive side was coming out. I use to come twice a week but with the backlash of everything in the press, I'd limited my time to once a week.

"You just can't take the lost, can you?" Her grim smile could've had men drop to the floor. Objectively, she was right. I'm a competitive player it's in the Drakos blood.

It's been a week since everything, guilt filled my eyes every time I look at Aslyn. I haven't told her about the stolen kisses I shared with Roman, or what happened in my office. I don't even understand what was going on.

"We both know that I can't," I smiled, looping my arm through hers as we walk back to the golf cart, Hawthrone Country Club.

Even the name gave old money, my family has been a part of it for decades. It's one of the pros of being a Drakos. The families of the rich and famous flocked to this large estate. It was a massive of private houses spread out on the many acres of fresh green land.

We drove back to the main part of the club, and the thought of another game escaped my mind.

"So, I was thinking we should have another girl's night," Aslyn's eyes gleamed as we walked into the dining area. Chatter filled the room, all among business or other pleasures.

"Hm, I wouldn't mind," I matched her smile, I think I can use a girl's night or just an escape from everything. Other than my family, Roman clouded my mind. I haven't seen him since that night in my studio.

We fell asleep with each other on the sofa, but when I woke up he was gone. I wasn't sure if I should feel sad that he left and didn't say anything or glad because I didn't know what to say to him.

It didn't help my thoughts or gather what the hell are we but two days later he was on the front cover with a blonde in his arms.

Aslyn and I took a seat at the table, we had sat further back of the club near the wide windows looking across the indoor pool near a group of older women sitting gawking at the younger gentlemen lounging at the pool.

"It's been so long since we spent time with each other," Aslyn says, I could hear the hint in the tone of her voice.

It has been a while, we are both busy but for the most part, it seems like I was too busy for her. A send her a grim smile, guilt coating my tongue.

"I know, but we are together now so fill me in," One thing I loved about Aslyn was, her life was like a movie. She always had some sort of action in her life that filled my excitement.

She started on a rant, and I was open ears by the time she was finished we finished our food. The waiter collected our dishes while she excuses herself to the restroom.
