DAWN DRAKOS
Seattle, Washington
. . .The clock ticks and the time feels endless.
Roman's hands against my skin feel lethal, it seemed like we had been in the bathroom for hours but it's been five minutes.
My jaw tightened as his hands gripped mine, and the rough calluses scraped against my palm. I looked up at him beneath my lashes, his eyes narrowed at the floor in thought and I wanted to know what he was thinking.
My mouth was dry, I knew my glass was half full but when it came to anything involving Roman it was damn near empty. Tonight proved that very well, the flame in my chest could've burned away the butterflies in my stomach.
Silence covered us and it was eating me alive, but my mind itself was on a rampage. This house... I couldn't believe Roman lived here, I remember each design and every corner. I always wanted to know who moved here but I'd never thought it would be him.
I like to believe it's a simple coincidence, but I have been telling myself for a while that anything involving Roman is never a coincidence.
My mouth parted, but Roman eyes struck me before I could utter a word. Like that, I'm one step forward and two back again.
"These are gonna leave a nasty buries," My hand grazed his knuckles, and I heard him release a steady breath like he was at peace.
I bite down on my tongue to compose myself, but being this close to him again wasn't helping. I stared down at my heels waiting for him to speak, this was the least I heard him speak in years.
"It will heal," Roman mumbled into a yawn, he tilted his head back giving me a good look at his jawline but I wasn't sure what to focus on. The way his jaw flexed in between the yawn or the way his legs spread while I stood between them.
God, help me...
I pressed my lips together, as our eyes connected. A never-ending rush of butterflies cruising through my bloodstream. The way he looked at me felt rare like the moonlight kissing my skin, pure and elegant.
"I should go," It came out in a light whisper, but my chest sank as the words left my mouth. I felt his hands moved lightly to my waist.
"Don't go," Roman eliminates the distance between us, I could smell his Dior cologne between us.
"I don't even know why I'm here in the first place, Roman," I say, he could've just taken me home.
My thoughts battled with each other, good and evil sat on my shoulder but I was stuck in the middle. Roman stared at me, with dark fixated eyes.
"Why am I here Roman," I repeated myself, determined for an answer but was I ready for it? I gulped my chest caved in and I was stuck in a cycle.
"I can't get you out of my mind," His voice touched my ears and I felt weak, "You are in my dreams, my thoughts!"
