ROMAN SOKOLOV
Seattle, Washington
. . .I'd like to think I was a man who was able to control my actions and reactions, publicly and privately.
Growing up between households, my parents had driven any impulsive sets of emotions out of me since I was a toddler. Most people were taught that there was a time and place but, in the world where I carry the Sokolov last name, emotions and impulsive actions were a disgrace.
But I am a madman when it comes to Dawn Lively.
There wasn't a part in my mind that I couldn't escape the thought of her. When I heard she'd been at the robbery a week ago, it unlocked a level of fear I hadn't experienced, just the thought of losing her.
A strange tightness gripped my chest, I couldn't see the future but, I was sure that if Dawn wasn't in it, then what would've been the point of living?
"Good Afternoon, How could I help you today Mr. Sokolov?" Dawn's assistant, Axel smiled as I approached the desk.
His eyes dart down to the bouquet of followers in my hand, I was never an impulsive man who acted irrationally actions but, when Dawn texted me while I was in a meeting, saying she missed me, clearly it meant to clear my whole schedule to spend the day with her.
"Is she busy?" I glanced at my watch, Every time I came here Axel played the same game. He greets me then asks why I am here, and it's the same game every fucking time.
"Well-" I turned towards her office before he finished, his words dying down as I opened the office door not bothering to knock.
Her eyes were wide as they slowly came up to mine, looking away from Aslyn and to my surprise Ivory Prescott. The last I saw Ivory was at Aslyn's birthday party last week.
"Ah, speaking of the devil, he shall appear," Aslyn muttered under her breath covering it with a smile.
"Roman, what are you doing here?" She stood from behind her desk, my eyes skimmed her body. Today she was wearing a black short-sleeved dress that came mid-thigh, Her back was out and I felt my pants grow tight.
Her eyes dropped down to the bouquet in my hand and smiled, "My meetings were canceled, and I figured I could spend the day with you, I brought you flowers,"
The lie spilled through my lips easily, and Dawn's lips curled into a smile that could've made me drop to my knees. Aslyn and Ivory glanced at each other and then sipped their coffees. Dawn took the flowers from my hands and pressed a kiss on my cheek and whispered a thank you, which made her friends gasp softly.
I hardly cancel meetings and my assistant nearly had a heart attack when I did. "If you're busy, love, I could wait,"
I added, and she smiled shaking her head. Soft chestnut dipped down her back as she tipped her head up at me.
