I padded through the forest. My fur was spiked up in excitement. After today I would no longer be Rosepaw. I was getting my full Medicine Cat name! "Calm down Rosepaw, your bouncing around so much I feel like I should give you poppy seeds!" Berrypelt mewed. "Sorry." I mumbled looking at my paws. I was about to become a full Medicine Cat and I was acting like a kit! Berrypelt touched my flank with her tail tip. "I know your excited." Is all she meowed. Then Berrypelt moved on. As we neared the WindClan border I heard the patter of paw steps coming from the hills. I turned to see Runningnose, and Mothwing padding down the hill.then I saw the ShadowClan medicine cat Spottedfern and the ThunderClan medicine cats Honeyleaf and Scarletfang. "Is this everyone?" Honeyleaf meowed. We nodded and then we began to padded across WindClan's territory. I padded beside Berrypelt who was talking to Spottedfern. "You know you should get an apprentice, I mean your not getting any younger." Berrypelt meowed. Spottedfern looked thoughtful. "I know but I don't know who, and StarClan hasn't sent me any signs." She meowed looking worried. "Why don't you know?" Berrypelt asked looking confused. "Because all the kits- and apprentices- don't have that caring look. They all have the light of battle in their eyes." I noticed that she was right. I had noticed before that Rainpaw and Petalpaw's eyes looked strangely different from mine and Berrypelts. They looked slightly more savage, more battle hungry. Sometimes it scared me. I never liked the idea of fighting other cats. I'd rather work things out peacefully. As the sun climbed down the sky we came close to Highstones. "Let's rest here." I heard Runningnose meow. Gladly I settled down in a soft patch of grass. After what seemed to be ages Berrypelt stood up summoned every cat with a flick of her tail. I trotted after. We climbed and climbed our way up until finally we came to MotherMouth. I expected to feel fear but something about the darkness was warm and inviting. With Berrypelt in front of my I followed her scent into MotherMouth. The path took twisted and turned until we came to then opening. There was a small hole in the top and the MoonStone stood 3 tail lengths tall. Berrypelt padded inside then turned to face me. "Rosepaw are you ready to receive your full Medicine Cat name and live the rest of you life with the burden of StarClan on your shoulders?" She began I nodded. "The. From this moment forward you will be known a Rosefur." Berrypelt mewed happily. "Now, is the time to sha-" before Berrypelt could finish the moon floating over the hole and the MoonStone glowed like a million stars. "To share with StarClan." She finished. The cats took their places. I laid down in front of the MoonStone. I tuck my paws under my chest and pressed my muzzle to the ice cold stone. I closed my eyes and instantly the stone floor lurched away and I was floating in darkness. I forced my eyes open and I was at FourTrees. "Why am I here?" I murmured to myself. Looking up at the stars I noticed that they looked closer than before. Then as I looked longing I noticed that they were moving. The star spiraled down and landed in front of me as StarClan warriors. A single cat stepped forward. Emotion hit me so hard I thought I would stop breathing. "Hawkwing?" I breathed out. "Yes my grandkit it is me." His deep mew sounded warm with happiness. "We welcome you here as a full member of StarClan." Hawkwing spoke as if a thousand cats were talking and once. Then the starry figures melted away. My paw became rooted to the ground I couldn't move. Then I saw a trickle of red flow down from all sides of the hollow. Then that trickle became a fast flowing river. Then the reek hit me. This red liquid was blood. It filled the hollow and began to pool around me. It kept rising until I was a tail length over my head. I stood there struggling to get free. I'm going to drown! I thought to my self. Then all went black. I shot my eyes open with a wheezy gulp of air and leaped back. I pressed my back to the wall of the cave. The fur on my shoulders was bristling. I saw the other cats begin to stir. And when Berrypelt stood up I rushed over to her and pressed my face into her chest fur, trying to find comfort in the sweet herb scent that clung to her pelt. I felt Berrypelts paw on my back and her tongue rasping over my head. I stood there, my eyes closed until my breathing evened out again. I looked into Berrypelts eyes. Sympathy was all I saw in her eyes. Playfully nipping my ear she headed out of the cave.
