Rhodey wanted to kill Steve. Tony had dug himself into his work, spending days without sleeping, eating or drinking properly. He thought about it, planning each and every step carefully in his head. Then he remembered that murder and attempted murder were illegal and that he had to make sure Tony didn't do something stupid.

Steve told everyone who asked that he was drunk and stupid to do such a thing such as cheat on his own husband. He must've been drunk their entire marriage then. The letters to Bucky were of concern and love. The letters to Tony were just love. No emotion other than love. No concern for Tony's life or feelings. Just for Bucky.

Tony brought a lighter to Steve's letters to him. He watched them turn to ash. He watched Steve's words turn into flames and ash.
