The guardian of Rohan (Eowyn x Male reader)

Chapter 5 : Another Road

Elion felt a great dizziness ,he had no idea where he was or why he wasn't dead to begin with. He couldn't hear anything and that was making him nervous, until he slowly began to regain his sight. Elion was in some pain, he had bandages on various parts of his body and several pieces of his armor were missing. Not knowing what was happening, he slowly began to get up with the strength he had, until a voice stopped him. "I wouldn't get up so abruptly if I were you."

To Elion's surprise,he was next to a small campfire and a tall bearded old man with a gray pointed hat. The guardian didn't know how to react so he stood still. "Easy, I won't hurt you, I see you've had enough." The old man would light a pipe and start smoking."Who are you?...... and what am I doing here?". The old man stopped smoking and would gladly answer, "My name is Gandalf. And no need to mention that you entered the forest of Fangorn; I am not surprised that you are so wounded." After this Elion would be surprised . Did the gray wizard help him? Well, he owed him his life then. But then he remembered about the attack. "It wasn't the forest, some orcs ambushed us". The wizard would pause to analyze what the boy said. "Orcs you say? They must be wild orcs coming from the mountains. I'm surprised they're wandering so far from their territory."

"Well no idea,but for some reason they wanted me alive and I didn't want to find out. The rest of my patrol....... was killed." Elion slowly settled down until he was comfortable so that his wounds wouldn't hurt. "You pulled me out of the woods and helped me when you had no responsibility. I have no idea how to thank you."

"And what did you expect me to do? Leave you behind?.....:....... You were lucky that I happened to be passing by, I was about to study about some magical waters inside the forest, but it seems that fate made us meet, eh?". Gandalf took a closer look at the boy, and had not realized that he was young. .... quite young. " I'm surprised to see someone your age in that armor,sure you didn't steal it by chance?". He asked curiously.

"Of course not. I belong to the Royal Guard of Edoras,in the service of the King...... Sort of." This raised the old man's curiosity even more. "Well,I won't judge your ability.". After all that conversation Elion rewired his neurons and didn't realize that he had just been saved by a wizard after an attack." How long have I been unconscious?"

"Well, it's been two days since I found you, but I have no idea how long you were unconscious in the woods." After this there was silence..........

"Damn,I have to go back to Edoras." exclaimed the young man,however it had not gone unnoticed that he had just been saved and had to pay for it somehow.

"Is there any way I can repay you for the favor you just did me? I need to get back to Edoras."

After hearing that from the young man,Gandalf wasn't really going to ask anything of him,however,he didn't believe in coincidences,but rather in fated encounters,and this encounter was for a reason,so something crossed his mind.

"What if you don't go back to Edoras? At least not yet?". This caught the guardian's attention.

"Our meeting was not a mere coincidence, and I want to know what this encounter might bring, so I propose something to you ....." Gandalf then rose from where he sat. "Travel with me for a while, learn of the experiences you might have in Middle-earth, and perhaps I can answer that question. And it will be there that you can return home". This caught the young man by surprise. "Are you absolutely sure of what you are proposing, sir?"

Gandalf laughed at Elion saying "Sir", it wasn't something he felt he was exactly entering into. "Of course, believe me you could learn many things on my travels, you would be amazed at all that this land hides in every corner.". Elion found himself dubious of the proposal, however Gandalf specialized in being persuasive, whether people like it or not. "You can also refine your skills, be the best version of yourself, learn more than Rohan could ever teach you". This touched some of Elion's nerves. Perhaps he could benefit from this?.The orc ambush was unpredictable and his conscience told him that he could have avoided it. But most of all it could serve to protect Rohan. ..... Protect her.
